Ok. So Losch is in Weatherford, Texas (west of DFW area) on Sunday for the dedication of the new Spanish KH. My wife tells me that everyone was so excited! One of the precious GB has come all the way to little Ol' Texas to grace the local Mexicans with his Christly prescence! What did he do? Did he spout "New Light"? Did he expound on some spiritual principal that inspired the audience to higher levels of JW'dom? No. All he actually did was struggle mightily through a talk in Spanish, having to get pronunciations from the R&F in the audience, and then had the audacity to get visibly upset because more than one person wanted a picture of him. Asshole.

Do GB members always dedicate Kingdom Hells, and if so, do they even attempt to get one that can speak the language?

Wow... I've never heard of a GB member doing a KH dedication.

He actually spoke Spanish? I didn't think he knew the language. I'm surprised they didn't just get a translator for him.

It's quite rare for a GB member to dedicate just a Kingdom Hall - typically it is beneath them to speak to a crowd of less than 2000. I would venture a guess that someone in that congregation knows him personally. The photo-takers were undoubtedly holding him back from green handshakes or an exclusive dinner sponsored by the well-heeled JW connection in the area.

Of course, if you happened to be dedicating a Kingdom Hall in, say, Tahiti, and managed to supply a 1st class air ticket, I doubt you'd have problems getting a GBer out there. Weatherford Texas? Not so much.

Actually, the congregation invites whomever then can get. Usually, someone has a connection with them. The higher up the individual the more cachet for the congregation.

In this area, Jack Redford and Sydlik came and Sydlik was considered a greater catch.

I think he stumbles through about 5 languages: German, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, and English.

    But he speaks A$$hole fluently.

He went there out of appreciation of the fact that the only growth in the US is in the spanish congregations!

The wife said that he had to actually have help from the audience on a few occassions. He would be stumbling over the pronunciation and brothers would pronounce the words out loud.

I have to say that I was visibly shocked when my wife brought home the dedication handout, and I saw the name. I asked her what he looked like, and she said he was short and Austrian. Yeah I know, a very detailed description.
