Had a pleasant surprise today whilst listening to my local ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) radio station to find that the presenter was talking to a Garry, with an American accent, regarding jws. I began listening subsequent to the introduction of the segment, but eventually worked out that it was in relation to the person appointed to head a political party in Queensland happening to be a former jw.

The discussion centered around Garry's involvement with the jws and various activities in which the dubs are infamously known. Garry left a good 'witness' for ex-jws.

At the end of the segment the presenter thanked Garry Busselman from (such and such) in The U.S. and I thought, that name sounds familiar, and, sure enough, it is our very own garrybus.

It would be interesting to learn how Garry came to be invited to discuss the subject.

Cheeses - keeping up with current affairs.

Here is Gary's very first post on JWN 7 years ago:

The product of a high control group like the Watch Tower Corporation is division and loss. It’s victims are left in a grief cycle. Denial, bargaining, anger, sadness, and finally acceptance.

With acceptance comes a degree of indifference and with indifference comes a sense of freedom to move on to other things.

A rational person seeks justice or the perception of justice. Conflict with a closed hierarchy system results in frustration. That frustration, to an insider looks like anger. A rational person seeks objectivity and objective, rational thought is discouraged in a closed system. The rational person is seen as weak for not believing. The rational person is seen as sinful for not accepting based on blind faith.

Yet the true believer would not think of going to a medical doctor who relied strictly on blind faith in his methods for her own treatment. The true believer requires a strictly pragmatic approach to every other area in her life. She will not buy food from a grocer who blindly believes his food to be fresh. He is required to demonstrate. She will not go to a dentist who has no credentials at all but truly believes he is capable. She can immediately dismiss him as a fraud.

This true believer lives in a capsule. All not inside the capsule is suspect and strange looking, flawed without test. Thinkers are feared. All criticism is seen as anger. All critics are seen as the enemy.

Just as true now as it was then.

The ABC interviewer found me from an Internet article I wrote. I'd guess it was on Freeminds.

The best former Jehovah's Witness (Bible Student) business leader and political negotiator I can think of was Dwight Eisenhower. He was a West Point graduate, supreme commander of allied forced in Europe, rode his tank into Berlin and freed the (pacifist) Jehovah's Witnesses in Nazi concentration camps, became president of the United States and negotiated a truce in the Korean War in the 50's.

I have forgotten all of the 10 questions I asked the Witness clergy in the 80's. One question was: Who is responsible for writing all the errors in Watch Tower literature?".

I do remember when I read Crisis Of Conscience that all my questions were answered in that book.

Here is the classic hilariously funny Gary Busseman piece that inspired me to start writing about WT idiocy:
