  The great news is that this girl stopped the cycle of abuse. Good on her. I wonder how her siblings dealt with it? Would ya know by chance Donny?

  I spoke to her again this afternoon during lunch. She said it was very hard to deal with and she came to hate Sundays because that is the day her or her sisters received it. She said the practice actually came from her moms side of the family as that was the way she was punished. The reason I said I think it was sexual is because of the way the sessions went. She would be sent to her room to remove her dress (and later even her bra) and wait for her dad and sometimes mom to come to the room. While she waited she had to stand at the foot of her bed with her hands on her head. When the parents came in, she was instructed to lower her underwear and bend over the back of the bed where she received 4 to 15 swats with a paddle. She then had to stand and face the wall with her hands on her head for another 20 to 30 minutes.

  At this point you could see and hear the distress she displayed. As a result she has no relationship with her parents and hates religion. Her anger sometimes gets the best of her. Last year she was in a mall and noticed 2 witnesses at a table. She had never seen that before and when she made eye contact, one of the witnesses handed her a tract and asked "Would you like to learn how you can live forever in the new earth?" She replied "Yes, but not with you fuckheads!" and wadded up the tract and threw it in a nearby trashcan. She said she felt bad afterwards, but I told her it was quite funny.

  LOL You won't hear that as an objection on one of the service meeting parts. I guess she won't be getting sucked back into the fold.

  Rebel, I don't think blaming the jw's for that is legitimate. After all, a lot of us grew up with none of those experiences.

  Jesus John, you and I have had this same debate numerous times over the years.

  3. My mother was probably crazy before she joined the cult. The cult fuels it by false teachings, anti-child/anti-female norms, pro-abuser infrastructure, and causing undue strain/stress on families.

  More than that, I would say. I've seen countless kids dragged out of meetings and whacked outside so hard, you could hear the whacking.

  Rebel, I was shocked and sickened by what I read. I am so sorry.

  If anyone believes the JW's are not responsible for promoting beating children...(John Doe) they are in big time denial.

  Myself, and my brothers had plenty of "pants down" beatings.....always over some behavior out in service or at the KH.....never concerning our regular day to day lives.

  It was always over some preceived embarassment on our parents part in front of other JW's or...and this is a big OR...., some God Damxed Bethel heavy, CO, DO, or presiding poop head that happened to be visiting, needing home cooked dinners and green handshakes.

  In our hall there was a large wooden paddle hanging in the women's bathroom. The biggest user: a single mother of 4 boys and a girl. Stair step children. All the the little boys had butch hair cuts. They always sat near the front. Every Service meeting, as the little children became more and more tired, were grabbed by the "short hairs" on thier heads and beat to hell in that bathroom, every one saw it, everyone heard it...and no one did a thing.

  The last name of these kids was Shwieg. I wonder if any of them are on this forum, or in reality how many are in jail or a mental ward?

  i know a lot of this was pretty intense......soooo........to change the pace a bit........ i just gotta ask.....would she like one now as an adult?.....i promise not to leave a mark!!!..........oompa

  She seems to be ok, but she definitely has a lot of anger toward her parents and the organization. No Oompa, I don't think she would like one now, but I will put your name in her hat just in case.

  Oompa, your comedic timing is non-existent and in its usual bad taste.

  To force a young woman of sixteen (who at that age is fully sexually developed) to disrobe completely in front of her father and bend over and say that doesn't have any sexual overtones to it, is big time denial.

  J.D.: You just can't imagine a parent getting anything sexual from their childen? The majority of sexually abused children are molested by their fathers, stepfathers and other relatives. That is common knowledge nowadays. Get real!

  I cannot speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't say my physical abuse had any sexual undertones (mine was from same sex parent though). The theme was humiliation in whatever way possible--I will just say that w/o going into details, for fear of distracting from the important meaning of this thread. Everything was about humiliation, kids are like animals who must be brought forcibly into submission, and girls are one step below that--they are like cows (straight from wt publications), blahbety blah blah.

  There was also a theme of...how can I explain this....keeping me from maturing and becoming independent.....thus treating me like a toddler on my high school graduation day.

  I'm over it now, but imagine people who go through much worse things....it could take a lifetime and scars could still be left upon the victim's soul.

  I posted my experiences for lurkers and people thinking of joining the jws. Please get away while you still can!

  I am the victim of abuse inspired by the witnesses and have no doubt in my mind that they are responsible for condoning and encouraging child abuse. My heart bleeds for all those that have had to endure the physical and emotional torture that this cult teaches its members to perpetrate. Do not minimize the religions responsibility. Many of us undergo emotional scarring that effects us for a lifetime.
