whoa renaii
I can't believe you said this
We have to wonder how we ourselves are so bad that God has to step in? I ask myself are we responsible for the continued suffering of people in places like africa, if we have medication that could help the aids victims and food to feed the starving but leave it to ill-funded charities. are we condemning ourselves by our treatment of ourselves? 4 million abortions a year! greed making petrol the fuel we use destroying our atmosphere when we could change to alternatives but choose not to!
Are we condemned if we finally have the means to make the whole world peaceful and well fed and even healthy in the greater part but choose not to out of greed, hatred and the human condition of imperfection making us unable to help ourselves to a greater good even when language is no longer a barrier and we can reach every part easily?
If we have the ability, the funds and the means to help then aren't we accountable for NOT doing what we can?
If the WTS has the ability, the funds and the means to help then aren't they accountable for NOT doing what they can?
As an elder's wife I was told NOT to help a sister who chose to die of cancer at home with her family. The family needed some support and help to care for her. Because she and her family were deaf when the time came to call paramedics and then the coroner they needed someone there who could help. Out of a congregation of 150 people 3 people offered to come once. I was there every day. Staying there while family members got to go to a meeting or to shop, for food, to take a break and sleep. 3 people doing a charitable work.
My husband and the elders complained I was ignoring my family (I wasn't) and service - knocking on doors. Note that the knocking on doors came first in their directions. But there was no way I was going to abandon this family who had already gone through so much - 2 other deaths in the family in the 2 preceding years.
When I was home on bed rest for 6 weeks in my last pregnancy 2 sisters offered to take my 4 yr old for a morning - total of 3 times together and one of them dropped off a meal a couple of times. So 42 days (approx) and 3 mornings out for my daughter and 3 meals. Well better than nothing I suppose
What charitable works does the WTS or elders encourage? When do they reach out their hands to their own who are in need?
Change doesn't come from the powerful. It comes from the little guy, one person doing something good. Then two people doing something to make a change. Perhaps only small changes in the beginning but before long more people make those small changes. Eventually people begin to hear of others doing the same thing until a lot of people join in. THAT is how change - positive change - that really helps others really happens.
And at every step the WTS stops dead in its tracks and tells JWs to stop. There is one mission - get more people in and ignore those who are already in. Whatever happened to the shepherd who lost 1 sheep and left the 99 to look and care for the one?
This is something the WTS does not understand.
