I was invited to attend Maundy Thursday at the local Methodist church . Each year I guess they do something different this year it was a Drama of the Last Supper . The actors were just regular members of the congregation aged 17-60 . A woman read the Bible account as they acted it out ,and at one part they sang a beautiful hymn . They did a wonderful job ! At the point were Jesus passed the wine and bread the congregation passed the unleavened bread and grape juice and all partook at the same time .

The BEST memorial I've ever gone to !

At the end the actors walked through the church in silence, and the attendees were instructed to follow in silence to signify the seriousness of the occasion .

That sounds really cool. I'm so glad you were able to have a meaningful experience.

And that Jesus wasn't rejected there.

Why would you condemn one cult and attend another? Religion is a cult, no matter how you slice it. They all have discrepencies and they all try to conform others.

    rhiley,

Hate to call you out on this one but their are religions and there are cults. Within christianity there are many different beliefs that I agree. what I disagree with you on is this.... I am Baptist and I have many Baptist friends However Baptist do not claim to have a monopoly on salvation. Christian Churches preoccupy themselves with saving the unsaved not converting other Christians to their way of thinking. We also do not do it for our salvation as we are saved its for you were worried about! Jehovahs Witnesses are not adding to the body of Christ as if they were apart of it anyway, they would simply be shuffeling it around a bit. I can have discussions and fellowship with another type of Christian without arguing as there is only one common theme throught Christianty one bond. Jesus is Lord! if you believe this then you are saved. We can go on and on about the rapture, tribulation, infant baptisim bla bla bla but these are non salvation issues. Best not to get hung up on them. Cults on the other hand feel that they are the only group chosen and require there members to dress alike and demonize the rest of the world for not agreeing with them! Think like the cult thinks or die! My prayers are with you that you may be granted the wisdom to know the difference!

    No spell check

I feel free to believe what I want and to do as i want now . I have not made a firm decision for or against the Bible or God , and for now I am perfectly happy about that choice . I enjoy the feeling I have when I attend Church so I do !

So far no one there has tried to force me to believe one way or the other . Nor has anyone told me I have to conform to their beliefs , and I am not being pressured to join their church either .

The reason I left the JW religion is because I lived my whole life in the midst of it and after 44 yrs I had come to the conclusion it was a repressive cult that was affecting my happiness and family relationships . I no longer wanted to live in fear and with a negative view of life as my outlook.

If all Christian religions have only one common theme, and do not require you to conform to their beliefs than why the need for more than one religion? Religion has been responsible for centuries for creating dissention among people and killing in the name of God. (simplified version) How does that coincide with what the bible teaches of love. The bible, the koran, and such, I believe are meant to be used as a tool by god. It doesn't matter what religion you are. We are all brothers and sisters, and if we lived by "the golden rule" or philosophies along that line, than there is no need for religion. People can live under that way of thinking, in harmony, without interpretations, or variations of it to conflict that belief.

    Ahhhhhh ... grape juice ?

I don't think there is fresh grape juice in the spring.

Curious...did they act out Judas leaving? And at what point did he leave? (and did the actor get to come back for the finale? lol)

I used to work with a born again fundie who condemned all alcohol use. I asked him about Jesus turning water to wine and instructing followers to drink wine representing his body, he claimed that is was grape juice, not wine. He was as stubborn as a JW. Even though he claimed to accept the Bible as the literal word of God, he refused to accept that it was wine and not grape juice.

I agree with babel on. I think you are on the right track, also. Congratulations. I am a member of a Methodist Church myself and I have many of the same feelings as you.
