    Cameo-d,

Your comments are just ignorant. They are called pirates for a reason and it has nothing to do with water rights, fishing,or toxic waste. It is wholly due to them wanting a ransom. This is the first US shipped targeted so what is your excuse with all the other incidents? Some of the boats targeted are tourist boats. It is all about $$ for them. You are clearly anti-American so I'm sure my message won't get trough to you.

By the way......kudos to the US Navy Seals. They are beyond awesome and the grueling training they go through clearly paid off in this situation.

Your equating a handful of criminal pirates to the strength of an entire nation ?

I thought Fox News was making that equation.

Yes, if the outcome had been different, the political fallout would have been negative against Obama. Now that the outcome is positive - oh, nevermind.

    This was great news.

Bush experienced that for the last 8 years.

To hell with their boundaries and water rights, take all their fish. When the fishing gets thin, drop the toxic waste off on them. when they complain and try to stand their ground....let's just kill the bastards.

This was about fish? I thought it was about cold hard cash. When your livelihood depends on taking hostages, threatening innocent people and engaging in a life or death stand-off, perhaps it is time to find a new career-path. That may seem simplistic, but think about it.

I have no sympathy for the pirates - yes, pirates. The fact that three were killed after holding a hostage for several days - was great news - and a good message to others who would try this.

John Doe - You cannot be serious. You are too smart to go down that road............I think?

    "You are clearly anti-American"

I am against Nationalism, especially when it is used in a "supremist" manner

I am against American arrogance, especially when it is used to imply that Americans are more deserving of sustaining resources than the less fortunate peoples.

I am against bloodthirst and this ignorant, redneck attitude that the solution to problems is to "bomb the bastards"; we were commanded to love one another and to lift our brothers. Should we choose to kill the less fortunate and just get them out of our way?

Can you imagine the money that was spent to send those two ships out and pay those crews? Millions or billions?

Why was that money not spent to actually help the Somalians and resolve some of these problems and establish some goodwill?

Why did it even have to get to this point?

BizzyBee: "This was about fish? I thought it was about cold hard cash."

You must be depending on Fox for this information. Who the hell wants US dollars? Plluueze!

Does anyone here even bother to look behind the scenes to see how this all started and how long ago?

It's a common thread with anyone in power. To the supporters, their leaders can do no wrong. To the non supporters, they can do no right. Nice ad hominem, by the way.

Cameo-d, you must not be relying on ANY news source for your information because if you were, you would know that it IS all about ransom money....yes even AMERICAN money. And to say that we as Americans feel more deserving of anything is the height of arrogance on your part since America and Americans help less fortunate people ALL THE TIME! I don't necessarily agree with the attitude of bombing in this instance especially.....this is just a small fringe group. Better ways of dealing with them like what they did. If it were another country who's people were held hostage and they had rescued them in the same manner, would you still feel the way you do? Like you said in your first post....there's nothing wrong with standing up for yourself.

Unfortunately, the "good message" received, according to a self-proclaimed pirate quoted by the AP, is "kill the hostages faster".

The killing of 3 pirates won't have the slightest effect on making the overall situation safer - if anything, it made the situation more dangerous for shipping crews, at least in the short term, as pirates will have shorter patience.

Isn't it a bit ironic, Americans calling anyone pirates? The biggest plunderers of resources at the point of a gun the world has ever known.
