    5. How have imperfect humans misused their authority?5 On the other hand, imperfect humans in positions of power have done much to undermine respect for authority.

There you go. The GB just laid out why none of us respect them. And they're not tightening the screws because they don't understand what's going on. They know exactly what's going on and they're just ramping up the mind control so that they don't lose the Dubs who are still under their control.

? "He is in no position to counsel me!" If we think that personal faults in the counselor invalidate his counsel, we need to remember the points noted above....Today, Jehovah's organization appoints imperfect men to offer counsel, and mature Christians gladly accept it and apply it.

Oh, this reminds me of my ex-husband. The one who beat the living daylights out of me and of the woman he was with before he married me. And now, as an elder, he has actually counselled couples where the husband physically abused his wife. But his personal faults don't invalidate his counsel. He was probably able to give the husband a few pointers on how to most effectively terrorize his wife.

    Stupid WT.

More old testament examples of fear and submission. Do they ever get tired of this? When a snot-nosed elder who has little experience in life tells you how to run your marriage or raise your kids, it gets a little hard to pretend the "counsel" is beneficial. Delusional.

"When a Christian rebels against appointed elders, others in the congregation may suffer as well. (1 Corinthians 12:14, 25, 26)"

Another example of the WTS black and white, yes and no mentality. A Christian cannot be referred to as possibly disagreeing with an elder or having an alternative viewpoint. No unless JW's are "yes" persons, the hierarchy gives the green light to its membership to view such ones as "rebels"

Brooklyn does not believe in grey areas folks...

"Most often, then, we show submission to Jehovah's authority by respecting those humans he has placed, or has allowed to continue, in positions of authority over us."

I thought most often we showed submission to our Creator by accepting the One he sent to save us from sin, death and futility. Did Jesus say "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one can get to the Father expect by me"? I would have thought, then, that accepting Christ would be the bestestest way we could submit to God.

In the congregation, this lesson was rushed, quite a bit of material in a short time. It didn't help that the reader was slow and some of the commenters rather long-winded. After the Theocraptastic Misery School and Serve-Us Beating, I think the dubs had pretty well forgotten what was covered in the "Bible" Study. Next week the chapter continues.
