JW Teens Can Be Very Mischevious..... And Other Internet Observations.

  When I first got the internet in 1998, I was out in FS with 2 young bros in their teens, best friends. They wanted to check their email, and I said that they could use the computer.

  I went upstairs, and found them in a chat room. (this was before the first article on chat rooms, I think. It didn't send any alarm bells at the time...) Can you believe that they were pretending to be girls, flirting with guys? And they were doing it pretty much for laughs.....

  Why am I writing this? I guess because occasionally, I see some very sincere newbies here. They need help. Its pretty clear. They are in pain. They need to hang with people who understand, maybe have some fun too.....

  And then you have others, who come here, and its clear that they know about the borganization. But they seem to be lacking in the pain and angst dept. (not that sadness means anything, but it sure seems no one leaves because its a happy decision to come too. And if they do, there is a certain "twisting of the knife" quality that comes through.... ya know what I mean?)

  So they post all kinds of weird stuff, unsubstantiated stories. They ask questions that most JW's know. They ask things from the "JW point of view" about what life might be like in the new system. (Toilets in the new system? Clothes?)

  All I am saying is, I knew JW teens who do this sort of thing. They aren't really worth the time. There are a lot of other people and topics worth a lot more attention....

  I know about the "borganization", and am lacking notoriously in the pain and angst department. I realized very early in my teens that devoting any more time, energy, or emotion to JWs than the minimum required of me by my JW parents was a huge waste of time. Surely I can't be the only young person to leave ~*the troof*~ and not look back. It's rare for me to even think about the JWs, it never comes up in conversation, and people are always surprised to learn that I spent seventeen years as one.

  It wasn't painful for me to leave, it was natural. Maybe I'm the weird one, though.

  Welcome! I apologize if I was too general in my comments. I am glad that you had a cleaner break then many do from the Borg. I think if you can pull it off while young, it is much easier. Time causes a greater investment, from what I have observed.

  Don't worry asilentone. Emily24 I found out recently was in my KH a long time ago. I know what she meant.

  Just as an opinion, I am all for free speech, but sometimes, boards like this can be a place where sensational stories are posted, and rumors started, that simply aren't true, and my only point is that a little thought and common sense can go a long way to verify these things. Hell, we all are somewhat anonymous. (although I have "come out" a little more lately on freeminds) So its not like we can check for ID. But there is no need to be naive either....

  My elder dad caught me looking at porn on our computer, when I was growing up, he got pretty pissed, lol. Ohh wait, I don't exactly get this thread.

  I was a mischevious JW teen girl. I was the typical "lived a double life" JW, I went to school and became "worldy", I came back home and became "the good JW daughter". It was so stressful LOL.

  Double lifer her although I didn't play the game too well I just couldn't get with the program and my parents called me a "rebel" constantly.

  Jeff, that brings back some memories. I first got a computer in 1994 and it wasn't soon before I was chatting in "the loquacious station" using mIRC. It was a small chatroom for witnoid teens, mostly. And yes, I don't think there were too many people in there who were EXACTLY who they said they were.

  At the rate we get people like [name deleted to protect the stupid] in here, the Internet either attracts all the social misfits, or there are a lot of JW teens who are screwing around. I'd say both are true, and JWN gets its fair share of everyone.

  But anyway, i guess you can recognize this crap any time you read something from someone who tells an impersonal, contrived, or stereotypical story. or a story that recieves a lot of sensational attention. The reason why i feel prey to [name deleted to protect the stupid] is because I hadn't read his/her threads previously and noticed the fact that they are so obviously full of crap as to be unbelievable.

  As long as the rules are set up to protect (and thereby condone) this kind of behavior, JWN will increasingly harbour these misfits and pranksters.
