I'm sure the witlesses are going to make a big deal about this flu "pandemic", which is actually about as dangerous as regular flu. But I doubt it will stop them from going door to door and possibly picking it up and spreading it, along with even worse diseases like tuberculosis.

little do they realize that these petty little "pandemics" are mere sneezes in the history of the world. To the WTS and JW's its always overdone because they are in the last days of the WTS and they use these events in a vain attempt to buttress the WTS's failing escatology.

Aleppo Earthquake
Took place in 1130 ad in northern Syria. Has been labelled as the fourth worst Earthquake of all time, causing the deaths of over 230,000 people, mainly due to the destruction of a number of citadels housing large populations. Sill_in74 - great post. Also, the bubonic plague killed at least 75 million in the 14th century against an estimated 450 million. I think it was between 1/3 & 1/2 of Europe, about the same for China, and about 1/3 of the folks in the Middle East. Still, that's over 15% if you use the low end of the death range. I've seen it said that up to 200m could have been killed by the Black Death which would put it at around 50% of the world population.
Compare that with the same number that were killed by the Spanish Flu in 1918 which I think was only less than 5% of the world population (1.8 billion). While clearly bad, not even close to the same level.
I thought the last days were supposed to be so much worse than any other time in history? If this stuff kills 3 billion, then I may think there's something to it.

My theory (for what it's worth) is everyone gets their own personal Armageddon. My dads was when my mom died, leaving him with a house-full of kids under 14 and no real family close to help out. (We were 5 states across country from his family).
