If true, perhaps my kids could talk to each other again (one is an obedient JW, the other is DF'd). But I won't hold my breath waiting for this to happen. -

I believe there will be a large increase in their ranks. They will be like
any other religion. Without the shunning, DF will not be a big deal.
Hell you can go to college, take blood, miss meetings, no field service.
Young people can have a normal life, married folks can do whatever they want
in the bedroom.
I take it all back, this will never happen.. The GB love the control. I really believe
they get excited in their beds when they are all alone at night. We have millions of
mindless people that think we are next to GOD. We love this sh---t...

DoC: The article to "love" DF people will be in the Public Edition. The article to treat DF people as tho dead will be in the Study Edition.
On the one hand I also think that the society is - and will be - "doubble-faced". But on the other hand nearly all their publication are meanwhile "public", also the study-WTand the KM.
So they have to choose a different way to promote their real opinion. But I don't know, how they will do it.
Just thinking...

Maybe not so farfetched after all. See what recently happened in Finland after even governmental ministers looks into this:
http://yle.fi/uutiset/jehovahs_witnesses_to_hand_over_top_secret_manual/7244267
Until now, only senior members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Committee have had access to the congregation's secret book of rules.
The disciplinary activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses Committee have been criticised for violating human rights.
According to Anna-Maja Henriksson, Finland's Minister of Justice, the purpose of the handover is to examine the book and determine whether its rules and regulations run counter to Finnish law.
Henriksson and Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen met on Thursday with the leadership of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Helsinki. The book will be handed over on Friday for inspection.
According to representatives of the Jehovah's Witnesses, committee practices have been changed recently and the committee no longer addresses or interferes in the matters of its members that are considered to go against church guidelines.

Again i will say: this is 180 degrees from reality. Word is shunning is due to be mentioned and reinforced in upcomming study articles and parts on assemblies. -

The GB loves their DF'ing arrangement; no way to control behavior without it.
Imagine, if you couldn't be df'd for criticism of the GB!
People would be free to tell the truth about the 'spiritual food' Anthony Morris III dispenses.

The only effective part of DF'ing is the shunning, everything else is a bonus!
No more answering, ministry, talks, 'privileges'. etc.
Drop the shunning and everyone would want to be DF'd!

campaign of hate
If true, it could easily swing either way.
Drop the shunning, become more liberal, membership skyrockets = The real money starts to come in.
or
Drop the shunning = Still stagnant growth, but more leave as they have nothing to be afraid of.
We all know the GB are pretty money obsessed, and if they really are being controlled by lawyers and accountants, dropping the shunning could be a brilliant strategic business move.
But.....I personally can't see it happening.

They have been giving talks too recently for any new light to come out. They could quietly tell the elders what kind of congregational discipline is high and low priority just to keep the numbers up. They could relax disciplining those who still associate with the disfellowshipped and just still preach against it. Or simply put in more checks and balances to make sure it isn't a matter of elders power tripping, so that the corruption and hypocrisy doesn't stink as badly. Or they could make reinstatement a lot easier. Making reinstatement a lot easier they can come across as loving without actually comprimising. It won't help the heretics and independent thinkers. Didn't Christ say that you should forgive your brother Seventy times Seven times? -

The society cannot go back on the shunning policy...I've seen entire families in tears during a talk about being loyal to Jehoover when a family member is DF...there are thousands of families who cut off family members because they believe it was the right thing to do...
...to change that would cause massive family issues...even if the GB wanted to change it they know they can't.
