For lets say around £7,000 and then use the same for banner advertising from the air as a promotional tool for companies? How quickly would the Microlight pay for itself and bring in a nice little earner? Anyone else interested in madcap money making ideas?

    Any views?

Does a microlight have enough power to pull a banner?

Wow, COMF; I was about to post that. Most of the banner tugs I know about have 200 hp motors (high-performance) or better. By defintion, ultralights don't have much payload. And 'robustness' or 'stamina' is 'outside their envelope'.

Keep in mind that charging for something like banner pulling (in the US at least) requires a commercial pilot's license. Same is true for taking photos from the air. My old flight instructor told me that he would "disown" me if I got an ultralight, he considered them to be absurdly dangerous.

Yes, as others have posted, ultra-lights are not up to the payload of a banner.

I think a better idea would be to to hire attractive women and men to fly the ultra-light in the nude, and rent out binoculars to people on the ground. Attach micro-banners as a side business for ad revenue.

You could consider dropping pamphlets. Ehm lets see, start with:

    KNOW YOUR BIBLE

    and make sure that

    FREE - NO COLLECTION

is also on there. That has a staggering track record of attracting people...

If 7000 british pounds translates to 14000 us dollars you could find a small 2 seat cessna (cessna 150) for around 20k us dollars. Airplanes (small ones) are cheaper than most people think. My advice would be to save a little more and get a plane that will not fall from the sky.
