Most of the witnesses that have been around for a long time have lost their thinking ability.

They are so brainwashed that they will always accept what the GB tells them without reasoning on the scriptures

or their previous teachings of the watchtower.

For the majority it's nothing but a social club with very little "godly devotion".

Now quit stirring those people up by referring to their literature, Bonafide. LOL

How amazing is that? It brings back flashbacks of when the "generation" changed in '95. I spent an entire morning in service with the pios trying to convince them that the organization had changed the meaning 180 degrees. They acted like I was attacking them for discussing what I was reading directly out of the magazine to them. Initially though - they did not seem to know there had been any change at all.

Just remember that the GB wants 'blind obedience' not 'reasonable obedience' in these things. They could care less if the R&F actually read the words to get a meaning - they just want them following no matter what is said there.

Good Job. I could not stomach it myself. But I hope you reach one or two.

Bonafide, do the witnesses ever get suspicious of your opening up the discussion about points of doctrine or policy? They seem either very tolerant or very thick-minded! I'm amazed that you have not had them coming after you with lots of accusations about your motives.

BonaFide, that's hilarious! They're not keeping up with their own beliefs. Can you blame them though?

    everyone was so uncomfortable.

    Frigging dangerous mind-control cult.

Thanks for sharing your outing. Apparently, the suggestions that the numbers are going down works on the members.
The doctrine is so confusing that the members don't keep up with what they believe.

At a recent ex-JW meetup, I was talking about voting in my union. Another member told me that I was in violation of the WTS rules if I had been voting for years, and I was an elder. I should have been removed. I said I knew we didn't vote in political elections, but I didn't know union voting was wrong. I thought I was good at keeping up with the new light and the rules, but it's all just so confusing.

There was a recent thread on the difference between JWs of 40 years ago and now - this thread illustrates the point nicely.

    Nowadays:

    1) JWs don't read their own literature

    2) They don't much care about their own doctrine

    3) They rely on their memories of how things were when, regardless of how loony the beliefs were, JWs were at least enthusiastic about them

20+ years of dumbed-down literature and cookie-cutter conformity in all formal aspects of JW life have produced this.

The dumbing down took place decades ago........

    Sad, so very sad.....

You just witnessed (no pun intended) cognitive-dissonance in action. Is it any wonder why so-called "spiritual" subjects are never discussed. I was going to say that they are never discussed outside the Kingdom Hall or in the preaching work, but very little of what gets said in the way of doctrine can actually be classified as a discussion either from the platform or at the door. It's more like the expression, "If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you!" (Attributed to Samuel Goldwyn)
