The only effective saftey for your family would be total isolation for 12 months....no one comes in, no one goes out. The Spanish flu did not reach one Island at the mouth of the Amazon river since it was isolated from the mainland. I think if I had enough Baked Beans, water and God my Plasma TV i could make it otherwise, me AND my wife may not make it...he he.

I doubt that I have enough stuff in my house now to do a year long siege. As to water...if all the people at the water plant are in their house.....

During football season, with enough beer in stock, that's pretty much how I live now.

Assuming the water and electricity stayed on and if I was careful with food, maybe a month or so.

I probably have 2 months worth of food....5 years worth of stockpiled DVD movies! I need to buy some canned food but my anti-Armagedon stance holds me back......remember New Orleans, food can be you best friend.
