There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I’d something more to say.

Time is something we have too much of until we don't have enough.

    Anthrax: Got the time tickin

    Wake up,
    got another day to get.
    Through now,
    got another man to see.
Gotta call him on the telephone, way-o.
Gotta find a piece of paper.
Sit down, got another letter to write.
    Think hard,
gotta get a letter just right.
Little ringing on the telephone, wo no.
    Gotta write another letter.

    No such thing as tomorrow.
    All we want...
    (two three go!)
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time
    Ticking in my head
    Ticking in my head
    Ticking in my head

If I tell you what i'm doing today,
will you shutup and get out of my way?
Someone asked me what the time is,
    I don't know.
Only know I gotta go now.
    No time,
tryin' to get a watch repaired.
No time, never got a thing to wear.
Little ringing on the telephone, wo no.
Hear a ringing in my head now

    No such thing as tomorrow.
    All we want...
    (two three go!)
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick tick ticking in my head
    Ticking in my head
    Ticking in my head
    Ticking in my head

    No such thing as tomorrow.
    All we want...
    (two three go!)
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
    Ticking in my head
    Time
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
Got the time tick, tick, tickin' in my head.
    Time!
    Ticking in my head
    Ticking in my head
    Ticking in my head!

Although we make time, use time, waste time, count time, there exists no one who can definitively say what it is.

Great track Monty but it should be credited to Joe Jackson, much as I like the Anthrax version.

If anyone is wondering. Time is a real thing. It was not imagined or invented by humans.

We know this because of the way Relativity works. Time near a massive object moves more slowly relative to time at a distance from a massive object.

As an example: Your feet are younger than your head. This is because your feet are closer to the mass of the earth than your head. Granted, over an entire lifetime, the time difference is a very tiny fraction of a second... but it is still there.

If anyone is wondering, yes, researchers have actually measured this time difference. They setup two atomic clocks. Once was left on the ground and the other was flown in a jet high above the ground for a day. When the jet landed the clock on the jet was running faster than the clock that was left on the ground.

Einstein explained this in one of his works, but I confess, I have a hard time grasping it.

    Thanks, Else.
