I'm confused about Locke.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the guy with Jacob in the beginning. The real Locke is probably still dead. Just guessing, though.

Regarding the island: It’s Atlantis!
The large reptilian statue and other art with Egyptian influence along with the way the island can vanish fits the description of the island of Atlantis.
Regarding Jacob and all of the events leading up to now: I suspect he set into motion everything so that he would not die. Once the people back 30 years in the past blew up the bomb they reset the time line causing the events where Jacob dies to never happen.
Basically Jacob out smarted his adversary even though his adversary figured out the "loop hole".

I didn't think it was possible to beat the season 3 finale, but I think this one did.

The main lesson I take away from the show LOST is: No matter what, never let other people manipulate you. It will never work out to your advantage! Just ask Locke... oh wait... he's dead.
