troubledmind and gregor, that is my approach too!

I like to get all animated and gawk at what they are all in my business about.

If they percieve a problem I let them tell me solutions, I find them rather entertaining actually.

I did not always feel this way, when I was younger I felt obligated to answer truthfully whatever

someone asked. I also thought busybody type people were genuine and sincere......I found that to

    be quite the opposite.

    Megaflower,

That's good too, if the circumstances are right. I always prefer the barefaced lie in these situations.

    Example:

Sister Busybody: I heard that you didn't make to any of the District Assembly...(which happens to be correct)

    I say:

    A. Oh no! We were there every day. We really enjoyed it. What did you think of it? or

    B. Oh, my wife's nephew in Omaha was in a terrible car crash and we flew back there to be with him. But we have a tape of all the program that we're going to listen to this weekend.

I either ignored them or I just plainly said it was none of their business..

I tell them it's none of their bidness or feed them misinformation, depending on who it is and what they want the info for.

When I had an elder ask me for my phone number, I balked and asked him why he would need it. (He actually had the number as it hadn't changed). He was wanting it in case something might happen to my mom. I gave it because I believe he was being genuine.

There is a "brother" I know who looks them square in the eye and says firmly "I have no idea what you are talking about." He uses it for everything, so nobody bothers to ask him anymore.

I have in-laws that are busy bodies, and I am so sick of it, that it seems to work if I just say "mind your own business, there is no need for me to explain anything to you". Why did they have to know why I needed to brush my teeth before I went to get an ignitor for my dryer?

Yes, its a bit rude...but it works with them.

If someone asks you a personal question you could ask them how much they weigh.
