A REAL JW to me is a JEW. Isaiah 43:10

Will the answer affect whether or not you'll read or post here?

Excellent question.
Even though I dislike WT teaching on blood-ban, birthdays, etc.,
I would be compelled by honesty & integrity, to become a JW
-- IF wt teachingwas true to Scripture.Mormon & JW teachings are different than the rest of "Christianity".
How woud I know if my upbringing was "Truth" or not?
(Father was Greek Orthodox. Mother was raised Roman Catholic.)Like-minded teachers, friends, family just reiterate what is already learned.
To me, it takes someone with an opposing view to test the strength & weakness of any belief. -

You smart cookie. Keep reading this site. There are quite a few active witnesses that post here including elders etc. Also many very experienced ex JW's that were high up in the org including bethelites, missionaries, circuit overseers etc.

"Smart cookie" might be one with an imbedded (chocolate) chip on-the-shoulder.
It doesn't matter to me how high up the ladder the poster gets.

4ex welcome ") I think many of us, myself included, became JWs because we WERENT uninformed of the life destroying abilities of this cult. With the onset of the internet one can ask and get answered, ANY questions about this organization from people who have lived it and moved on...or have tried to. It always take a pound of flesh with it.
It DOES NOT adhere to the scriptures. What it adheres to are the Pharasaical views of its leaders over the years and a membership who continues to stay "loyal to Jehovah" because they know if they dont they will lose their families and be forced to shun and be shunned. Its spiritual extortion.
Do your research here. There are many VERY insightful wise and experienced exjws here. And ALWAYS someone who has experienced what you have questions about.

My Catholic, next-door neighbour wanted my help. Her husband was studying WT material.
One day he handed me a (thick, English) book & said: "Here is what I believe."
He was more French than English so I asked: "Have you read it?"
His response blew me away -- "No, but that is what I believe !"Soon after that a very old JW (he must have been over 40 :-) came to my door & said something like:
"Bible scholars have gone through our material with a fine-tooth comb, & never, ever, found anything wrong with it yet."Pretty soon, his daughter, + the leader of the local congregation, + letters to/from head office put me way over my head.
I was learning things I didn't know existed in Scripture.
I experienced the terror of questioning personal belief.Your word "research" is the clue.
Pretty soon I will post some research that Greg Stafford, Jason BeDhun, Fred Coulter (CofG) have not refuted. -

"Bible scholars have gone through our material with a fine-tooth comb, & never, ever, found anything wrong with it yet."
These stupid statements never fail to make me smile. I think we've all heard pretty similar stuff (from JWs who have only read the WT's literature)

Don't worry about it - most of what the WT churns out is way above the heads of JWs too. With all the constant changes, the old folks (and probably the younger ones too) can't keep up, they just accept it as been 'too deep' for them to understand. Not much of what the JWs believe DOES exist in Scripture.

Hi 4examp,
Welcome aboard BTW! :)
How many real JWs post here?
Not me, I am a witness for Jesus like several others here
Acts 1:8-9 (New International Version)
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
Anyhow, the are many other witnesses here, even a few for Jehovah who drop by. Stick around and enjoy :)
All the best,
Stephen
