daniel-p: What you found is intriguing. What's that about the Watch Tower Society? Is the guy saying he had work experience at WT and used the Admin2000? That's what I get out of it.

Jeff, you have yet to leave. Let it go................
I personally appreciate the replies of those with experience where I really have little by comparison. I think it probably good to backtrack just a little from my first post on this thead in the light of this. I probably should have asked the computer savvy more about this as opposed to stating what I did with such certainty.
Having said that, if I am reading the posts correctly (Yammer, your post was particularly enlightening) I still think it an overstatement for most to believe that their posts will directly lead to their being "uncovered".
Perhaps it would have been better to say that with reasonable safeguards, those still in can share their thoughts on an outside network...
Certainly, if you are at Bethel or in any branch, DO NOT USE ANYTHING ON THE BETHEL NETWORK, USE A BETHEL COMPUTER, OR OTHERWISE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE TRACED BACK TO YOU.
Now that we got that out of the way, my real intent is to just drum up some common sense arguments against the paranoia. I guess if you personally are still concerned about this, I hope you can get over it, because I don't think the GB or Bethel heavies are trying to figure out who some of these posters are... Just my 2 cents....
My apologies to anyone if you feel I am minimizing this. I take it seriously, I used to feel that way. I also know that there is a limited amount of time and resources that are potentially available to the GB to track "apostate" posters.....
Perhaps this thread accomplished a better understanding of this... Maybe there is more to learn for all of us...
Since no one has mentioned this, I am just wondering if anyone else has noticed.
I noticed before JWN went down, that Barbara's thread on "GB member stroke" had a few hundred hits.
I noticed yesterday evening, after the board came back up, that the hit count was over 18,000.
Did someone use some fancy equip to spike it and bring the board down?
Today its over 19,000 hits.
This just does not seem normal to me......
I think that thread being very unique with all of the insider info was a natural draw... I think it also shows how many JW's are lurking here...

His resume is porrly organized, but the way I understand it, he served as a "manager" for a bethel buidling at the South Africa branch, and his job duties sound like, to me anyways, a home overseer. This would also coincide with the amount of time he says he spent in that capacity: "PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT 29 July 1995 - 15 January 2007"
So he could have defintely been a home overseer, with being there for 12 years. From the other things listed, it sounds like he had started out as a mechanic at Bethel, or at least worked as one for a while, and that that's what he's appying for. This would make sense, since a skilled mechanic would make more than a building "caretaker," even if his duties as a home overseer involved more responsibility. But the fact that he mentions handling "problem solving with all the occupants," "oversight of contractors," and upholding "security and safety standards" leads me to believe that he had some capacity as a home overseer. Also, he mentioned experience with Great Plains Dynamics (now Microsoft Dynamics), which is a program used for managing finances and communications in a business atmosphere. However, there is no notable program called "Admin 2000," which leads me to believe that he thinks its still good to say he has experience with this program, even if no one else knows what it is (to make him look experienced and smart).
Do you know how the program is managed? I wonder if each home overseer has access to it, to keep tabs on the Bethelites in their buildings, or if the monitoring comes down from above.... I know in my case, I was not approached by my home overseer, but by my work overseer who was probing for me to confess of viewing pornography on my computer.
On a related note, I always wondered why they seemed to let it go. If they did have access to my activity, there was no question I was lying to them about it, since I certainly did not confess and just tried to side-step the whole issue. They seemed to give me some round-about counseling about it... maybe it was their way of warning me gently? I wouldn't put it past them to do it that way, since they were very nice and reasonable men.

We know these things for sure:
1. Individual JWs who may be either a) believer-faders, b) "undercover" crusaders, c) vindictive betrayers have outed some people on this board.
2. Bethel monitors the internet activity of its own Bethelites, both from the pubic computers available in libraries and work, AND the personal computers of Bethelites in their rooms (such as in my case).
However, there is no evidence that Bethel has any interest or wherewithall to monitor the activity of individual apostates UNLESS they have a blog or website with their copyrighted materials.
daniel-p: In the large Bethels, no one person except the BOSS of the dept. has the ability to access all the internal stuff. Instructions to get in the databank is broken up to 20 people or more. But in small branches, one person gets to access all the internal stuff in the database except Brooklyn's child abuse records and local Service Dept stuff related to the U.S. If this guy from maybe S. Africa accessed Admin2000, he has read relatively all the memos, instructions, etc. which is very interesting stuff.

The thread steadily was climbing, I even posted seeing it go up quite a bit in one day and that was before JWN went down.
