Or, was he just doing the loving thing of killing her. If she hadn't turned in her letter, then the "elder meeting" hadn't happened. So, she died as a faithful JW and will be ressurected in the New System.

Skeeter1, that's another interesting way of viewing it. I could definately see that going through his mind. After all, that's how JWs usually think.

Great article on exposing the part religion played in her death.

    Glad it was not downplayed.

Hopefully the letter will be released.

As someone else mentioned, this is an old story - the death occurred in June 2007.

I rather doubt that this story is the reason for the July 2009 Awake.... I think the wording in that Awake is just more flagrantly hypocritical WTBTS 'speak'...

There appeared to be a sexual assault involved, too... : "Some objects, such as a black woman's shirt cut from neck to waist, a pair of thong underwear, stained bed sheets and wads of toilet paper with a red substance on it, all found in Eugena Smith's bedroom, were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for testing.
Swabs taken from Michael Smith's penis and a sexual assault test kit with samples taken at Eugena Smith's autopsy were also sent away to be tested, the court heard...."
The above was from the St Thomas Times-Journal, also...

The method of death is also confusing...

From US News via True Crime Library - "It was about 6:30 a.m. Thursday when James Morphy, a nearby resident with a police scanner, heard officers called to a shooting at 9 Balaclava St...."

From the St Thomas Times-Journal - "But days after she made her plans known on the social networking site, Facebook, the 33-year-old St. Thomas woman was found lying naked in her bed after apparently being strangled on the second floor of her 9 Balaclava St. home in June, 2007..."

Tragic. This also points out the validity of those who were worried about the security offered - or lack thereof - involved with "Facebook" accounts. Now, I COULD see this affecting the way "Facebook" handles security...??? Maybe???

Each person is responsible for their own bad behavior. They cannot keep blaming everyone else for their bad decisions. Murder is wrong no matter what religion is involved. There are "bad apples" in all organizations. The child, again, is the one that suffers the most and is left behind to remember this horrific event in their life. What a future!
