How about just going with " I don't believe in religion any more "

and just leave it at that, walk out peacefully. I'm still quite surprised that they haven't DFed you as of yet

for the kind of stand you have taken and expressed. If your family starts to personaly degrade you for that its their problem

their in the wrong , but at least you've stood up for yourself and you stood up for what is right, not what is wrong.

Your an adult start acting like one.

What I found shocking was how easy it was for me to leave. I realized that after 48 years in the organization, there were perhaps three or four people I genuinely would miss. While a JW, I always wished that I could get involved in certain charities, etc. After I left, I started living the life I always wanted to live.

So, no...I didn't struggle one bit.

So many people are so scared of being a non-jws , they are scared of well I guess I have to start celebrating Christmas and birthdays and Halloween

    .......Bullshit.

You don't have to celebrate anything you don't want to ...PERIOD

You don't have to do drugs , become an alcoholic , smoke , become dishonest, have promiscuous sex with multiple partners.

or you don't have to join another religion or church for that matter.

In the mind set of programed JWS these are the things that non-jws or the so called WORDILY PEOPLE do and are involved with ......Bullshit

Religions just like the JWS cultivate fear on to their members to keep them to their own and essentially exploit them to their own desire.

I totally agree with Homer. There is nothing to be scared of. Unless you don't like making decisions about your own life. It is your CHOICE if you celebrate holidays or how you spend you weekends. Get out from the mind-contol!

So what are you going to do...wait for your parents to die and your wife to change her mind about how you should live YOUR life? Like I said before, your dad shuns your son. Staying away from him should be a no brainer. Your mom doesn't believe that kids should get baptized and doesn't shun those who did get baptized as minors and later get df'd. So she shouldn't shun you either. You can work things out with your wife. The sooner you let her know that you are done with the cult, the sooner she'll stop crying and get on with it. You have enough resources to entertain your "worldly" friends while she's at the meetings, out in service and attending jw gatherings to which you aren't invited. Spend the rest of the time with her.

What is your house like? Do you have a man cave in the basement, den or garage? Then use it to entertain your friends. How close is your boat to your house? If it's close enough, then entertain on it. If you're planning a wild and wooly weekend, have it at yur beach house. Regardless of whether you leave or go back to the "truth", you are still head of the household. You can continue to be kind, but for Christ's sake, quit feeling guilty for having a brain. The WB&TS is bulshit from top to bottom. Really, it isn't necessary to feel fearful and guilty for waking up to the fact that you and everyone you grew up with are in a cult.

It's as easy or hard as you want it to be. How much are you willing to lose?
