Give them a few more years and they'll attach gas meters to our assholes and send us monthly bills for our personal emissions.

    THAT is funny.

We subsidize corn, and are going to tax cows? Isn't that the left hand taking from the right hand?

I'm all for not subsidizing corn....and for NOT taxing cows. GET government OUT of our lives. I am not a juvenile who needs to be told by my Congressmen what I should or shouldn't do; or to be "ecouraged by tax codes". I can decide for myself what I want to eat; and would like to make that decision by my own tastebuds and a free market price. I am considered skinny, go to the gym 5 days a week, and I am over eighteen.

By the same token, I understand and want the US government to do what it is authorized to do in our Consitution. Keep an army, keep the lights on at Congress, etc. I am for "A" tax, but not all of these "nickel and dime" taxes. Each "little" tax goes unnoticed on a single transaction but adds up to a mountain when taken in yearly. I am for a flat tax, one where EVERYONE has some skin in the game. I'd like to see the repeal of excise taxes, becuase these truly hurt the poor. I see exempting those below the poverty level to all but $1.00 of their TOTAL tax bill. But, the rest need to pay ONE tax and have some skin in this game of Democracy.

They subsidize the corn, but want to brutally violate the cornholes through regressive taxation. Makes no damned sense.

Apparently, this "FART TAX" is NOT just the EPA. The EU and other foreign countries are all trying this right now.

There's alot of money to be made off global warming. There's alot of chaos to be caused when the world's governments can control basic food prices. I see this as a concerted effort as governments are making a worldwide power grab to control what you eat, your healthcare, large businesses, the money supply, etc. Make everyone beg for food and power, and then start the One World Government. Those crazy Illuminati stories I heard as a kid are coming full circle.

Not to mention that even if you want to unplug from the machine and grow your own, the Feds are moving towards regulating the vegetables you grow in your own backyard small farm under the continued abuse of the Interstate Commerce Clause. Obama owns your tomatoes now, Comrade.

This is starting to look like the country my folks fled from. Recent immigrants tell me that in Cuba, rural people usually have it better than in the cities, but even if you own your own cow, you don't really own it. You are forced to sell a minimum milk quota to the government from your cow for a ridiculously small sum, and if someone comes and steals it your cow, the government fines you for it.

This seems so ridiculous. Wouldn't the methane released by cows be environmentally "neutral"? Sort of like the carbon dioxide we release with each breath is neutral?

(I understand fossil fuels are not neutral because burning them results in a large amount of greenhouse gasses that have been trapped for eons.)

Yes, the US government has owned my tomatoes since 1942! Goes back to an old case, the case Wickard v. Filburn (1942) . Born out of the Roosevelt Era of overcorrecting an economic crisis....
