Airbus A 330 crashed a week ago near Brazil....Today, another 330 had the cockpit instrument panel catch fire on a trip from Australia to Japan! The crew put on oxygen masks and put the fire out, making an emergency landing in Guam.

My last weeks threat prophecied that this plane is UNSAFE...todays fire proved that correct...these are not isolated incidents.

So the 10 million flights done till now don't count?

That put aside, I find it somewhat strange at times how such "almost disasters" seem to come in clusters. You read about how something happened to a special type of airplanes, and then daily you seem to read about similar things to that same type of airplanes. Or something happens with an airplane belong to a certain company, and then that company sees the same kind of things happen daily.

Accidents come in clusters. Or is it us - if you drive a certain type of cars, then you see lots of that type of cars all around - but if you change model, you start seeing that new model all around, and none of the previous one ..............

"oldhippie" "almost disasters happen in clusters.." Are you superstitious? Like the Gremlins in Twighlight Zone bringing down planes....You just don't hear what the media didn't report.

There were a lot of "seem" in my lines. I'm not superstitious (said the Believer), but I guess the combination of what the media suddenly focuses on and what you focus on, is a strong mixture!

The A330 is a relativley safe plane compared to other aircraft.

In term of fatal accidents per millions it is no where near the highest.

"Proved" is a strong word. Your conclusion is based on a very small sample size.

There is a huge fleet of Airbuses in service, the link above shows that statistically, they are pretty safe airplanes.

Keep in mind that every day the equivalent of a fully loaded jumbo jet dies in car crashes in the US alone.

No one seems worried about that.

Imagine if every day a fully loaded jumbo jet crashed killing everyone onboard. No one would fly... yet everyone is just fine with driving their car.

Yeah but regarding the stats these planes are brand new only 2 years old!
