Just saw this thread today. Welcome to the board srapmama. I think it's great that you posted your opinion. My MIL is in a very similar place to you. She has chosen to stay in despite knowing the flaws........she doesn't have the courage to leave everything she's ever known after being there for 50yrs. She will not shun either myself or my husband and is willing to have 'conversations' with my hubby and has even read a book or two that the elders would give her into trouble for. She probably is not of the norm either in the sense that she doesn't blindly follow all the rules that is enforced by the GB. She has actually defended my hubby and I, even though it perhaps brought a measure of suspicion toward her. She is not a judgemental person herself but she is still 'obedient' to the org. and presents herself very much as a JW inside and outside of the congregation.

You seem like a really nice, balanced person who isn't afraid to make their own decisions or think for yourself once in a while. You obviously aren't afraid to speak your mind and say what you think, and that tells me that you're a really honest person too. I really hope that you will come back and post again as I'm sure your comments will be much appreciated.

Please don't be put off by some of the strong emotions expressed by some, including myself. Most here are trying to heal from a lot of pain and hurt experienced through being part of the WTS. It's important that a forum like this is in place for us, if for nothing else, just to make sense of things. Each has their own experience, some worse than others but everyone is trying to move forward and find a way to get through it.

    Hi scrapmama

Be careful your inital thoughts were correct the anti-witness agenda on here is heavy but also they are anti-leadership and the right of leaders to govern and keep the congregation clean.

My reply: Wrong and generalized assertions as usual Reniaa. Got that persecution complex running high these days i see. We are not anti-JW at all. The people are captives of a falseconcept and a destructive cult. I cam for leaders to govern and keep the cong clean to the parameters that what they govern and how they do so is Biblically supported.

    1 Corinthians 5:12
What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

I will not tell you to be on this forum or not but remember your inital thoughts on seeing all these ex-Jws slamming the Jehovah's witnesses, or governing body or pretending the watchtower is more than just a magazine, to sidetrack you away from leaderships right to rule as both Jesus and God directed until Jesus returns and takes his choosen to be leaders in heaven having served here time down here.

My reply: The WT is a magazine thru which the governing body communicates to its members what they must do and beleive. The leadership has parameters set out in the Bible....your last few words of Jesus taking his chosen leaders in heaven at his return sounds like your trying to preach the WT 2 class theory...which has been proven to be a sham used to support their own authority structure.

A lot of info on here is false or things made to look like wrongdoings but actually aren't.

they will say governing body shouldn't be telling us what to do they are just men like us and not Jesus but then look at what the bible says.

My reply: The governing body should not be telling its members what they can and can not do in areas not spoken of in the Bible.

    Acts 1:20-26 (New International Version)

20 "For," said Peter, "it is written in the book of Psalms,
    " 'May his place be deserted;
let there be no one to dwell in it,' [ a ] and,
" 'May another take his place of leadership.' [ b ] 21 Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."

23 So they proposed two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. 24 Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen 25 to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs." 26 Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

clearly until Jesus comes we need leaders among men but how should we view them?

My reply: So you beleive in apostolic succession Reniaa? This verse is the choosing of an apostle to take Judas place. You are claiming this same authority for todays leaders.

    Hebrews 13:17
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

My reply: FOr the 5th time reniaa...you forgot the context of the previous 10 verses.

    7
Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
    8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
    9
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching. 2 It is good to have our hearts strengthened by grace and not by foods, which do not benefit those who live by them.
    10
We have an altar 3 from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.
    11
The bodies of the animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as a sin offering are burned outside the camp.
    12
Therefore, Jesus also suffered outside the gate, to consecrate the people by his own blood.
    13
Let us then go to him outside the camp, bearing the reproach that he bore.
    14
For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the one that is to come.
    15
Through him (then) let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
    16
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.
    17

Verse 7 makes it crystal clear- the obedience is to the extent that they preach the word of Christ- not the opinions of some old dudes claiming to be God's channel speaking on issues never addressed in Scripture.

You will already know these scriptures but I only show you them as one of the biggest things I see attacked on here. You are right we all stand before Jehovah and his son Jesus who must judge us personally but we will also be measured by how much we help one another. So we shouldn't encourage people away from the flock. They will not attack you on here unless you defend the religion or it's doctrines.

I will ask a two part question and hopefully some ex-Jws on here will answer it honestly and then you will see what I mean.

Do you think Jehovah's witnesses as a religion should end and do you think People are better of not being witnesses?

The answer to this scrapmama is why you should be careful!

My reply: Absolutely! It is a mind control cult alienated from Christ. It is responsbile for needless deaths by refusal of blood, destruction of families, past deaths by ridiculous medical advice, etc...

    reniaa says:

I rest my case! the goal of many on here is to stop people becoming or being witnesses. some will state it outright others will just say "we don't need to be in a religion that controls" etc, why should we be told what to do etc.Yet God tells us what to do or is God wrong for expecting things of us? Remember Jehovah's witnesses come together as a group to witness about Jehovah, being together in shared belief in Jehovah keeps us following him.

    My reply;

Our goal is to educate others about the JW cult so they can then, for themselves, make an informed diecsion using the info the GB does not want them to know. The Bible, and Jesus method does not show we should be controlled by leadership. JWs come together as a group- but do not worship Jeehovah...they follow the feedings of the GB...put forth as from God.

    Hebrews 10:25 (New International Version)

25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

My reply: yeah...talking to the Jews..telling them not to separate themselves from meeting with the newly converted Chrisitans they looked down on.

    Matthew 18:20
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

    My reply: Great Verse!

Who on here still follow and believe in Jehovah despite no longer being a witness?

    My reply: me

I have checked other religons that do not support the false trinity but they still do not use a personal name for Jehovah, You can check for yourself but in many things Jw are unique and all the apostate words on here cannot change how in line with bible truths their doctrines are, they may need more refinement but God shows this is an ongoing thing until Jesus returns but definitely God expects us to come together as a church/congregation and has even as I showed earlier given our leaders instructions on how to rule by bible principle.

My reply: Circular logic here. All assumes the trinity is false when it is not. Assumes the need for a personal name for God when the Bible tells us to call him Father. So no Biblical truths in the JW in those areas. Refinement. LOL As in new light?? Please- the JW new light is simply rewriting to cover their own false prophecies or tarnished history.

    Matthew 16:18
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

    Matthew 18:17
If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

My reply: And how did Jesus treat tax collectors? Pagans? Should we follow the example of how Jesus treated them or the religious leaders?

Welcome to the bunfight, scrap LOL!

bunfight jargon, lingo, patois, argot, vernacular, slang, cant - a characteristic language of a particular group (as among thieves); "they don't speak our lingo"

The slang term “bun fight” is used to refer to a formal event which requires people to dress up, whether or not the event features food, let alone buns. You may also hear it used in reference to a large party at which food is served, and a bun fight may also appear in the guise of a petty argument. In any case, the term appears to be British in origin, and it appears on occasion in British novels and newspapers, so it can be handy to know what it means.

    to the original poster -

you are right, there are many many negative and closed minded people here, who are ready to judge right away.

there is alot of hatred as well.

alot of the posts are simply to "tear down" as you have been taught, its really true.

however, there are small diamonds amongst this lump of coal - things that may get you thinking. I suggest you dont throw the bathwater out with the baby.
