slimboyfat: And hillary-step! (whose screen name I never understood)
The Hillary Step is a small but steep notch near the summit of Mount Everest. It's the last major hurdle that must be overcome before reaching the summit. (named after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first human to climb the mountain. He died just recently, I think.)
I should add that the Hillary Step the last hurdle if one is climbing the mountain from the south. The mountain can also be climbed via the northwest ridge -- the most difficult, technically -- and via the northeast ridge.
