His family doesn't want it to be sacred or private. He deserved better than the family he was born into.

The dude was a freak. You can blame part of it on sorry parenting or sycophantic suck-ups or Satan the Devil, but in the end each person has to take some responsibility for one's own actions.
He was a talented performer, he had a couple of good albums and some ground breaking videos. Aside from that, the guy was seriously fucked up. Pity him, celebrate his catalog of work even, but this continued mourning over his passing is way over the top and taking into account his troubles stemming from the pedophile charges and pay-offs, it's pretty sick how people are making a saint out of him.

I've read that the reason he had so much surgery and changed the colour of his skin was because every time he looked in the mirror he saw his father (who he hated so much).
If that's true it's very sad.
