    just heard this interview
    by this self-help rabbi guru
that he spent a period of
    time trying to convince
    michael jackson to stop
    poisoning himself with
    pharmaceuticals and explained
that he was NOT trying to convert
MJ to judaism, as it is not a
    proseylitizing religion but urged him>>>>

"to return to the jehovah's witness church
    because it kept him humble"

does this not reveal the scope
of the work the ex-JW community has
yet to do, in terms of educating
the public about the cult aspect
    of the b0rg?

Rabbi Schmuley is a knob anyway.

So true. When I told two Christians that my mom had left the witnesses after 37 years they said "That's nice".

Nice?! So many people have no idea about the witness organization. We do need to educate the public.

    To be fair and balanced:

It would have been better for Michael Jackson to be Jewish, Jehovah's Witness, or anything else if it would have kept him alive ...

    point taken berean....

it is speculative to declare that his life was negatively
influenced and impacted by association with a cultish
religion that would have persistently insisted he make
the meetings, go out in service, attend conventions and
suppress his inclinations to respond to his muse,
which has proven to be singular in a generation...

unless he left a statement to that effect, there
is no way to be certain how he felt about the b0rg...
certainly his father's tyranny played a role as well

repeatedly, celebrities have succumbed to the
pressure of their status, regardless of their former
or current religious affiliations.... seems almost
worthy of hazardous duty pay to be in the spotlight.....

He should have been a JW. People like that need religion in theyre lives.

Um guys? Look around the JW religion. How many people who are IN THERE are doing drugs BECAUSE theyare in there and cant handle it? MJ was a perfectionist and never thought he was good enough at any level of himself even in his performances he was always wondering if he did well. No matter how much adoration or praise he still doubted. How could he possibly have lived up to the standards set by the Governing Body and by GOD?

Nope...dont think it would have been good AT ALL for him to be back in that high control group again. He STILL would have been addicted to drugs just to cope with THAT added pressure and responsibility.

"Religion is the opiate of the masses"

I strongly disagree that Michael Jackson would have been better of in the JWs in exchange for his drug problem. That's like saying that it's better to be a Nazi than an alcoholic. Which is worse, the admitedly demoralizing problems of drug addiction or being clean and a member of a psychopathic and genocidal religion?

I found thisYouTube video on the same subject yesterday. When I commented that many exjws lose their bearings upon leaving due to the fears of armageddon and the fact that jws are set up for failure, because it's pounded into their heads that they will fail if not a jw, he removed my comment.

I agree with Shamus, Chickpea and Berean. There are those within my old congregation to whom I would NEVER tell the things I know, because they are so mentally fragile I suspect they would spiral out of control.
