Do you think a confession is good for your soul?

    Overall I think it's a very good thing. It helps to get out of the past when you no longer carry around something you feel you need to confess. Now, who you confess to makes a difference. Growing up Catholic I always confessed to the priest and always felt great about it afterwards. I knew that anything confessed to stayed in the confessional. Seems like that doesn't happen with the witnesses.

    Is it good for the soul? I don't know; prove to me that there is such as a soul.

    Not in any group context, and especially in a religious context.

    Confession is a tool of mind control and anyone promoting it should be treated with deep suspicion.

    I think communicatin is good for the psyche. People are generally happier when they can express themselves, both the positive and negative, and feel heard and/or understood by other humans. When you've done something you feel bad about, talking to a nonjudgemental, sounding-board type friend about it can help to alleviate guilt or shame and help determine a plan on how to avoid similar actions in the future.

    Define confession, good, and soul. These can be loaded words.

    The Catholic confession? Can give satisfaction when the participants are programmed for it.

    Setting things right with someone you've wronged? Highly recommended.

    It depends. If it's between you and another person, you need to ask yourself, will this make the other person feel better or worse? If it's only going to make YOU feel better about the matter, then no, confession is not good. But if you murdered someone, it's going to make you feel better to get it off your shoulders and confess.

    FHN, Thank god that I have never murdered anyone or did anything criminally wrong.
