In the mid to late 1990s I was working as a consultant in the IT field. Clients were paying $120 per hour to have me there, but the JWs seemed to think I should be content to fix their computers for a cup of coffee and a couple of cookies. Idiots.

Individual JWs and the organization most definately expect services and products for free. If you have a specialized skill that can be used by the regional building committee, you will likely be expected to work as much for them as you do at your secular job.
If you have a skill--most of them will try to take advantage of you.
Some do, but I find that they are ripoff artists in general, not keeping it confined to other jws. Once I identified such a jw, I never did any business for them or by them.

I forgot about the RBCs. Yea, those that had construction skills were expected to help at all the area KH and AH builds and remodels. There were so many builds and remodels for awhile that some brothers were never home on weekends. I remember a couple of brothers burning out on it and stepping down from it.
Which also reminds me of an experience I had. I had some experience in a couple of the building trades...nothing major but enough to be used as a so-called skilled laborer. On one building project, the brother in charge of our particular task was brusque and harsh. He went around barking orders and treating people like slaves. He got pulled aside and reminded that we were all brothers and he shouldn't be displaying such an attitude, but it didn't change him much when the other overseers were out of site. I finished for the day and didn't go back the next day. That was the last time I ever worked at a build. I didn't need that kind of harrassement from the 'friends'.
JW`s working together at Quick builds is a joke..There`s always friction..Someone is always trying to play top dog..
Eventually some just don`t go back..

I found that you have to make it very clear to jws that you are going to charge them. Always put it in writing. If they even hint
they are a little flaky , (which is most of them) then don't do any buisness with them. I learned the hard way when I was
young. I told my son to never work for jws or do buisness with them, he also learned the hard way. I found that if
a person never does anything for anyone else, then they usually want everything for nothing.
