2,418,903/2,469.036 = .979 percent, so 1 percent?? Am I cracking up?

Sorry to be a math geek, but here's the calculation for percentage gain:
1st, find the numerical gain: 2,469,036 - 2,418,903 = 50,133
2nd, divide the numerical gain by last year's number: 50,133 / 2,418,903 = .0207 = 2.07% gain

Another geeky comment buy it may be easier just to think of: (New Number) divided by (Old Number) - 1
2,469,036 / 2,418,903 = 1.0207 then minus 1 = .0207 or 2.07%
