I grow my own tomatoes and bell peppers with no chemicals.
Two of my favorite things to grow. Add corn, jalapenos, and cucumbers, and you have what I used to grow every year.

Yes - I ate organic before it was cool. ;-)
So what agency actually regulates and inspects "organic" growers? Which labs test for chemicals? What about contaminated packaging or shipping methods? It's kinda like putting pure water in a plastic container It's all marketing ...
I enjoy the taste of chems on my fruit and veggies. I don't wear Birkenstocks. I do like Costco organic valencia o j. I drink organic brandy.
Penn & Teller are going to tackle the topic of Organic Food on an upcoming episode of their Showtime series, "Bull$hit".
It will be amusing, if nothing else.
The Organic Food episode will air on July 30, 2009.

One of my favorite episodes is the one on Recycling. (LANGUAGE WARNING: Penn has never met a curse word he didn't like.)

I want to eat free range and organic, but it's just too expensive. Those cleaners I'd like to use are almost twice as expensive as the normal ones.
I tend to think organic is mostly a marketing ploy to get more money for the same product.
Even some non-food items have been slapped with an "organic" label. Not sure how that works.
THe organic raisin bran and salsa from costco(I think kirkland brand?) are really good. I don't go out of my way for organic, but some items come across and are wonderful so we look for them.
Just FYI, I don't know if it is organic, but Costco sells a high fiber bread called "squirrelly bread" that is very popular in our home(great for toast and sandwiches). It has no flour, just a bunch of grains etc. It is great for Weight watchers-we discovered it because of its point value in WW. YUM.
I roasted some beets(from the organic farm nearby), sliced and served them with slivered onions, basil and a balsamic vinegarette, chilled. YUM. I'd only had beets from a can when I was a kid-liked them, but the dye seemed more trouble than it was worth to give my kids when they were younger and my husband said he hated them. The kids loved it. Nice surprise-they are sweet and taste bad for you.
6.6+ Billion people on this planet, could not be feed with organic farming. Modern farming and genetic engineered crops, have made it possible to feed the worlds population.
