One elder said from the platform that Disney World was the closest thing to paradise on earth.

I always hated how many dubs praised Disney as the only decent things to watch.

um, lessee, a magic practicing mouse, wicked witches, evil step-mothers, racist cartoons (as perceived by some), magic beds that fly, magic cars that fly, magic potions...

Those were all elements of some of the most popular Disney movies...movies that generated revenue for ole Walt to build Disneyland and Disney World.

I remember some JW families that only allowed their children to watch Disney TV and Disney movies. Yet they couldn't watch the Wizard of Oz. WTF?

I love this series (the movies anyway, haven't read the books) and am looking forward to the latest

Jimmy you'd love the books. No knock against the movies, but the books just grab hold of you in a way the films do not. But I guess you could say that about almost any book-versus-movie comparison.

I won't give spoilers away but I am disappointed that reports I've read online is that the ending has changed.

I'm sure I'll end up seeing it as well. Count me as one of the rare who like the movies better than the books. I think the books carry so much dead weight in them, I'm also not a fan of her style of writing. It's like with music, I can like a band's music but if I don't like the singer's voice I'm not really going to get into them. Here I like the story's themselves, but her style of writing annoys me to no end. This will probably sound stupid as well, but I can't stand how everything has to have some magical element to it, it seems so hack to me. Like no one can have a leather belt or bag, it's a dragon-skinned bag. Or no one can have a feathered something, it's got to be Phoenix feather, or it's not a horse-hair brush it's a unicorn-hair brush. The thing that strikes me as so funny as well is she goes into these details about magical creatures in the whole class about "care of magical creatures" but no product is ever made from these magical creatures. They're 9 times out of 10 made of some type of Dragon substence.

I'm very glad for the woman to have sold so much though given her story, and for getting kids to read.

Love the Harry Potter books and movies! Some of the Witnesses I know wont let their children see any of the movies or read the books. What a shame to loose out on such great entertainment. I also know quite of few witness families who wont let their children see any Disney movie with magic. The leaves out a LOT of the classics!

Regarding Disneyland: Growing up witness I wasnt allowed in the haunted house or the "enchanted" Tiki Hut. I remember my dad talking about how Disney consulted with Spirit Mediums for the construnction of the Haunted House.. What rubbish!

I'm looking forward to watching the HP movie this weekend.

Regarding Disney movies: in the town we used to live in there was a very outspoken elder who regularly included Disney movies in his public talks - because they featured magic they were "not appropriate" content for a Christian to watch. He didn't let his kids watch Dinsey movies or anything else that even other JW kids got to do. So naturally, they left home early and did everything they could to make up for their horrible childhood.

Love Harry Potter movies and the books too!!!. My family will definately be seeing it. He who must not be named (Voldemort) is one creepy wizard. To bad it costs so much money for a family of four to go to the theater these days.

Pandora, try going at early times. We go Sunday mornings, and it is $5 per person. We don't get a drink or popcorn but go home and have a nice lunch.
