Which do you believe him to be? I have read arguments for both and am left totally confused.

    What does revelation say?

I mean, we can interpret almost anthing to mean anythign if we want, but we must first start from what is "plainly" stated.

I have come to believe the rider is not Jesus Christ.

    PS, it says:

    New International Version(©1984)
I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

Sylvia, I found this explanation very eye opening versus the WT.

    Thanks, Restrangled.

That was a good, satisfying, and non-dogmatic read!

I like this one, also: http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/twowhite.htm

I used to wonder how that could picture Jesus when He plainly stated to His disciples that, through His death and resurrection, He had already conquered.

Why a need for a second conquest?

Doesn't it feel good to be able to explore these things without looking over our shoulders?

Sylvia... Yes it's wonderful to research with total freedom. I looked up the in the Revelation Its Grand Climax At Hand for their reasoning.

    Page 90 paragraph 4:

"Who is the Rider of this horse? He hs a bow, an offensive weapon of war, but he is also given a crown. The only righteous ones seen wearing crowns during the Lord's day are Jesus and the class represented by the 24 elders. It is unlikely that a member of the group of 24 elders would be pictured as receiving a crown on his own merit. Hence, this lone horseman must be Jesus Christ and no other. John sees him in heaven at the historic moment in 1914.........."

I was shocked at the conclusion they jump to and then state as fact their version, including the reference to 1914. It goes on from there but too much to type.

See their sleight of hand at work!

They fail to make the distinction between the crown the first rider is wearing and the diadem of the second rider.

Let the reader use discernment, indeed!

The other assumption made by the WT is that the rider is righteous since he is wearing a crown.... it must be Christ because only the righteous have crowns.

Funny the scripture gives no indication whether the rider is righteous or unrighteous. On page 181 and 182 of the same book, they show the 7 headed wild beast wearing crowns.
