With so many articles and news stories on-line regarding Michael Jackson, his involvement with the JWs and now his children being taken to the Kingdom Hall, will this damage the reputation of the Watch Tower Society? Many of these articles have comments from exJWs telling the truth about 'the truth', plus Google searches are throwing people onto Freeminds.
Is The MJ Situation Damaging to the WTS

The Almighty Homer
Personaly I think it is since so many people are searching information on the NET about the JWS,
and being there is far more negitive information than positve , the population is getting informaly informed.
Connecting MJ bahavior right to up to his untimely death with the JWS should be prove damaging indirectly, ( Good )
even though MJ didn't have anything to do with the JWS for more than 25 years.

PP..I don`t think so.....The WBT$ wants hard core followers......If they loose a few thousand members so what..Jehovah is cleaning the organization..
It`s good in general though..It will keep people out of the WBT$ Cult..

Tired of the Hypocrisy
What I have been hearing locally is that Jehovah and kingdom hall are being mentioned int he news everyday. This means that Jehovah is opening the door and getting more people to come into the org. The jw's around here think that everyone will magically have their eyes opened and come to the kingdom hall. Anyways, my wife's rabid jw family think that. What I believe is that people will show a passing interest then it will subside. But, family services and the paparazzi are going to eventually stumble onto a molestation or abuse case and it will be bad news for the wt.

I truly hope I am wrong about this, but with MJ's kiddos being photographed going to and from WTS meetings now, and Firpo Carr relating on the TV stations how MJ wanted his kids to be raised as JWs (go figure), that there will be a heavy renewed interest in "all things MJ" and the public will be asking more questions about the WTS way when JWs show up to preach on their doorsteps.
Do not forget the lovebombing routine that these children will also be subjected to, but in due time, I would imagine that they will see through the nonsense and will also feel a real sting in the way Christmas and birthday giving is looked down on by the WTS. There will be even more conflict in the older two children's hearts when they see the hypocrisy within their own family.

I do! Hubby would never have googled anything JWs if it hadn't been for MJ. So, for our family, it has made a big difference.

Scarred for life
I don't know exactly how damaging it is at this point but I don't think it's positive for the JWs either. I think it's slightly negative publicity for the WTBTS. We'll see what happens as more time goes by.

I don't think it will make much of a difference for the hard core JW's already in... but I do believe it will make their recruitment efforts that much more difficult. The spike of traffic to the Freeminds site being just one of the examples... people are going to get a much broader picture of the JW's... imagine calling on the door of someone who didn't know much about them before they stumbled onto a site such as Freeminds (or this one) and the questions that householder will have.
