    nice work blondie

I was also very struck by the pastiche effect of using half verses to put together a wts interpretation.

Also Timothy's age was pinned down to early and late teens as answers took up where the Watchtower left of. The watchtower study turned towards A* teens and the pressures they were receiving at school to continue their education and the fight parents had on their hands to mold youths to be more like the WTS version of Timothy.

During adolescence and the following early years of life, a young Christian often has to make weighty decisions. Bad judgment can leave deep emotionally scars and create problems that may affect the rest of his life.--

Ohhh, I see like joining a cult that you can never fully get rid of?

Heeding the counsel to acquire the ability to think and reason like a full-grown person will help young people to avoid making serious mistakes.

Ohhh, I see that's why there is a rush to get kids baptised.

Some in Bible times rashly made a sacred, or holy, vow without carefully analyzing what was involved.
At times, young adults do not seriously consider the demands of marriage. Later, they find that much more is involved than they had realized.

Ohhh ,I see that's why we need to get them when they're young and dumb.

    psalms 32:9

Do not be like the horse or the mule,
    which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
or they will not come to you.

    How ironic !!!!!!!!!

Do not be like the Dub,
    which have no understanding
but must be controlled by wbts and elder
or they will not come to da meeeeeetings.

    Thanks B

ps Blondie is in concert in my area, Bethlehem. Might go?

Right off the bat, I see the most blatant lie about youth: The Unholy Bible claims that God wants youth to have fun, and the washtowel article mentions that. And then the Washtowel Babble and Crap Slaveholdery goes on to ban just about everything that is fun. Children cannot go out and play--they are supposed to be out in field circus. They are not allowed to play with other children, unless they are witlesses, at recess. They have to sit out every party and assembly at school. They are not supposed to do anything after school that is associated with school, and some even ban field trips within school. They are not allowed to play any real music or have companionship with anyone that is not another witless (and then it's under strict supervision). They call that "fun, enjoying one's youth"?

Also, they are required to waste their whole vacation time in field circus. They are supposed to spend weekends in field circus instead of watching cartoons or playing. They are supposed to be out in field circus instead of playing after school. And, when school vacation comes along, they are supposed to spend it all in field circus. Rarely do they get to have a real vacation that doesn't feature going to the Kingdumb Hell, going to all their boasting sessions, and supporting the full field circus in the destination (and when they do, they are looked down on). That's fun?

    This bugged me:

Some immature youths manifest a spirit of cowardice and mentally try to escape stressful situations by resorting to excessive sleep or TV viewing, drug or alcohol abuse, constant partying, or sexual immorality.

Spirit of cowardice? Harsh. Sure, the youth might appear to be lazy and 'debauched,' but if a kid was sleeping excessively (and teens can sleep a lot anyway), watching too much TV (distraction/avoidance), abusing substances, constantly partying and having casual sex, I'd wonder if the problem was really a mere 'lack of moral fibre' and cowardice or rather that s/he was clinically depressed and in need of professional counselling.

Thanks for making that point, Ann. I thought about it but it escaped me in my speeding development of this article.

Twenty-one years ago they were being told that they should pass up college and career because the end was coming.

How true is that! I remember being so ashamed at wanting to pursue my education.

An elder in my congregation shunned his daughter for going to university and she still sat in the KH even though her own father ignored her. I was a young teenager at the time and this girl really inspired me - she was gutsy and brave to still stick it out at the KH despite the opposition. It was one of the turning points in my own life and allowed me to make the break from the JWS. I often wonder what happened to her - she was far too smart and knew her own mind. I hope she got out too!

There was also a lot of double standards - brothers could pursue their wordly careers, we had a few examples of successful businessmen, whereas the females were condemned to a life of full time magazine pushing. This was not the future I saw for myself so I decided to take my chances at the big A!

"O YOUTH, enjoy yourself while you are young! Let your heart lead you to enjoyment in the days of your youth."

How does someone young 'enjoy' oneself constantly focused on one thing (handing out magazines door-to-door)? How does one 'enjoy' oneself with others constantly telling one what to do with one's life? How can one enjoy oneself if one is subjugated or molested?

Basically, what I see with the WTS is that the 'Youth' have no choice but to 'minister'. This is not Biblical. Not everyone is to be a preacher.

Or maybe trying to escape the effects of growing up in a mind-controlling cult?
