Wondering which song it he wrote also...can't wait to see the new songbook to see which songs have been removed.

I wonder why they are getting rid of so many songs.. after all, there are 225 songs in the current songbook and in the new one there will be much less.. are those removed ones all composed/written by persons who are now ex-jws or whats going on?

To my knowledge, none of the songs have been eliminated due to writers leaving the organization with the possible exception of 191 and 210, which were written by my husband. The song that were eliminated were judged to be inferior pieces of music.

Interesting feeling that. I wonder what emotion will arise in those who know who wrote the song and know of the df'g while singing it from now on?

I would think about it. I betcha they do also. Hopefully they will reflect on the shared history and maybe question.

191 and 210 - those are both very good songs imo.

210 "Make sure of the more important things" is a beautiful piece of music but one of the most difficult ones to sing. Our congregation could never pull it off - of course we weren't very talented musically.

I am totally weirded out that 191, Make the Truth Your Own, will not be in the book. I mean, this is a song symbolizes conventions and assemblies. It was sung all the time. I can hear the crowd singing it in my head. This is weirder to me than if they admitted that they didn't believe in Jesus anymore. Okay, not really, but seriously, I'm absolutely shocked and jolted. I haven't been to a meeting in 3 years, and never want to go back, but WOW!
