We have more clout, and more positive influence. And since the only way to be safe(r) in this world is to develope more friends than enemies, we are more protected.
People/nations who are ostensibly "friends" but who don't have any respect or admiration for you, and likely have slipped into full on disgust of you, are not going to have your back.

The US is going down the tubes anyway. It's impossible to sustain an economy where prices of products are going up and salaries do not follow. We are living the times when the power will shift. Pretty soon the US wil be invaded by little chinese needing a little more than a hut, only because we will have allowed them to buy us. We are becoming less dominant each day Obama or not. You can thank Wall Street for that.

I think we have more friends now with Obama, Hezbollah, Syria, Huego Chavez, Iran you know everyone who was formerly our enemy or at least not our friends, and those that were our friends Obama has managed to insult and show he isn't friendly to them, unless of course they follow the Lenin manifesto and hate democracy.
We are at a level similar to what happened to Europe pre WWII IMO.
