Hi Celtic: The Earth First movement has been featured in the news lately, being responsible for terrorism in the name of radical left-wing environmental religion. The Armstrong Forest is also unprotected as I last remember, and has redwoods. I would need more information from various sides before I could get too excited about this issue. - Amazing

Amazing, since when was caring for the environment, the fabric of our living eco-system, considered to be a bad thing? Its upto you I guess which psuedo arguments you want to use, but trees and forests go way beyond any attached labels you attach to people and communities that care about these issues, tell me, you a city or country dweller? And a word of advice, please try thinking outside of the box, twill do you a lot of good.
Kind regards
Mark
Hi Celtic: You noted,
"Amazing, since when was caring for the environment, the fabric of our living eco-system, considered to be a bad thing?
I did not say it was bad. I believe in caring for the environment.
You continued,
"Its upto you I guess which psuedo arguments you want to use, but trees and forests go way beyond any attached labels you attach to people and communities that care about these issues, tell me, you a city or country dweller?"
Here is what I did say, "The Earth First movement has been featured in the news lately, being responsible for terrorism in the name of radical left-wing environmental religion. "
There ae good environmental groups that use balance, reason, and attract people who are conservative and liberal in their political views. My commnet was directed to the "radical" fringe, and Earth First has been among those who, according to the media, have taken credit for using "terrorism" to save a tree.
I grew up in Southern California ranch land, moved to the Ocean areas, then to northern California Suburban areas, and then to deep forested areas in Washington State. I moved back to California suburbia, then back to Oregon, where I lived in the country with many trees, wildlife, etc. I now live elsewhere near major suburban areas. I have lived in rural, country, and big city.
As for Labels: When radical environmentalists use lie, or splash blood on people who wear fur, or blow up office buildings of businesses that own timber acerage, then they deserve the label 'terrorists.' However, this does not mean that I am against good environmental issues, nor am I against good, responsible environmentalists. Earth First is just among those groups that do not impress me as responsible.
You continued,
"And a word of advice, please try thinking outside of the box, twill do you a lot of good."I do think outside the box, if I get your drift. I simply do not share the same views about all the claims regarding the environment.
Example: The Spotted Owl issue in Western Oregon, Washington, and Northern California was wrongly skewed by environmentalists. The claims were a fraud. Just as the claims about Salmon runs in the Columbia River, and the oil drilling in Alaska.
This is not to say that there are not some very real and serious environmental issues to be dealt with. But, many in the radical left camp are guilty of lying, using labels, stereotyping, and a host of other wrongs, and exagerate their claims. What is needed is reason, truth, understanding, and balance. That is all I am trying to say.
Amazing
Got an ancient redwood in the fireplace warming my living room as I type. Hmmmmmmm toasty warm.

Amazing, thankyou for your reply, but what of American corporate terrorism that has destroyed the Native Indian culture? What of the countless lives that have been wasted in third world countries due to the raping and pillaging of third world countries assets? What of the burden of international debt? Are these not acts of terrorism too? Or is it so cosy by your combined fireplaces that you think terrorism can only come from a source which threatens your own brandnames?
Think about it.
Mark
American corporate terrorism that destroyed native American culture.
LOL
Here is the difference between terrorism and corporations.
Terrorism will not use law to further their means they use terrorism, terrorist plant bombs and kill civilians in an attempt to force their will on other people.
Corporations use laws. Corporations have a lot of money and influence true, but they do use laws.
If you don’t like the way corporations are conducting business you should organize and change the laws through the democratic process. What I have found with many of the radical groups (religious, environmental, racial they are all the same really) is that they realize that most people do not agree with their agenda so they have to resort to other means. Like planting steel spikes in trees so loggers will lose their hands, or burning government horse corrals.
Eco terrorist just another group of closet Nazis trying to enforce their own ‘enlightened’ view on the ‘ignorant’ masses.
Solution:
The only real solution to the Ecology issue would be to look at both the short and long term.
We should offer tax credits to companies that 1. Use alternative energy 2. Have green buildings and 3. Donate to environmental cleanups of polluted sites. We should also invest some of our money into RD for alternative energy sources (Solar, Wind, and Fuel Cells for cars). We should offer tax credits for people that purchase duel power vehicles, you know electric and fossil fuel. Those vehicles exist now but they are too expensive. We should also drill for oil in Alaska and off the coast to ease our dependence of foreign oil. Basically we should give industry a financial incentive to run cleaner, at the same time we should make duel power vehicles affordable for most Americans and look for new cleaner sources of energy.

What absolute piffle Jelly!!
The laws are made by your Fincaps and Lawcaps, get your head out of the sand and at least comment from the overall observable position, not just a part of it.
BTW Fincaps = Finanancial Capitalists
Lawcaps = Lawyer Capitalists
Ahhhh bingo!!
Strueth, the ignorance of some is truly staggering!!
Peace
Mark
Ah yes, the old I can get the laws I want so I will attack the process. How unexpected.
Strange here in California I seem to remember we have a law process that can come directly from the people. Get enough signatures and then the law will be put on the ballot, if enough people vote for you proposition then we have a new law.
So go for it, if you think you really have enough votes and the people are being ignored start you ballot drive. I eagerly await your results. Undoubtedly if the masses are being so ignored and neglected by the ‘caps’ they will jump in line to sign your ballot.
