Can a Hindu work at a hamburger joint?

I had a Hindu friend explain to me once that becuase they were more than likely American cows, not Indian cows they weren't sacred and therefore he could and did eat burgers from Wendies, McD's, etc. So I supposed following his logic the answer would be yes. Assuming he wasnt working at a burger joint in India.

Why is obscenity associated with sex but not violence? Sex is the loving act.

Sex can also be a violent act. I guess it just comes down to who is penetrating whom?

Well at times sex can be a violent or at least a more physical act than a loving act if that is the kind of thing you are into. Sometimes there is a certain stimulating effect of thinking of sex in a more dirty , sleezy kind of way and refering to it with obscenities even if or especially if it is with a person you love gets you a certain kind of satisfaction.

Wait a minute! What does any of this have to do with Hindu's??
My understanding is that there are vegetarians, and there are carnivores. Brahmans are the "Priest" class, and are vegetarian. I can't remember the rest, but they are warriors, and eat meat. I think. I'm working from memory here.

As I recall when I was in India, not all are vegetarians. Actually I went to Mc Donalds(LOL once!) in Delhi but the burgers were chicken and I think mutton, no beef.
So your friend is probably like many devotees away from home, having a more casual attitude now he has left India.
No beef "should" be eaten.

In Sacramento there was this Hindu man who owned a gang of Burger King restaurants all over town.

I imagine it's a conscience matter. Most Hindus are free to do what they want. They wouldn't eat beef, but they don't belong to a cult that dictates every aspect of their lives, just many of those aspects.

Jew can only eat kosher meat. Muslims can only eat Halal meat so maybe Hindus can eat, or serve cow as long as it is sacred cow. It makes sense to me.
