Another reason why the WTS warns JWs off the "net

We know the WTS says not going on the internet is for their protection. Yea yea I know. We all know They just don't want JWs to read all the real truth about the WTS.

But what if there is another reason? A more devious reason?

A while back the WTS forced the Quotes site down because it made them look foolish. It did which is the reason they wanted it gone. They don't want the un-indoctrinated to read their beliefs.

The WTS has developed a well-used induction process for new recruits. They start revealing their beliefs slowly to lure them in. Recruits aren't given the whole truth about associations, shunning, disfellowshipping, blood. When people do ask questions they are told they will get to that "later".

The WTS' website presents a very sanitized publicly acceptable version of WT teachings.

So.... would they really want JWs getting on the internet and discussing all those things that need to be carefully fed to those prospective recruits.

We've had numerous JWs come here and discuss all kinds of things that just don't hold up on carefully examination. We can easily poke holes in almost every argument.

JWs who get on the internet and discuss their beliefs expose the errors.

They also how JWs are really incapable of truly defending their faith. When they go to a person at the door they are meeting an unprepared person who has no opportunity to research a response. But here on a discussion board there is plenty of time to read something, go do a tiny bit of research and come back and destroy the JW arguments.

They may think they are "preaching" and we suspect a few come here to count time.

JWs themselves are doing more damage to their faith than we are. The show over and over how indefensible it is.

Is it any wonder the WTS wants them to stop discussing their beliefs with us. JWs give us th eopportunity to shred their beliefs and here is sits for everyone to read.

ThirdWitness was a prime example of dub doctrine being shredded, post by post.

Lurkers, look up ThirdWitness and read the debate. It's just pitiful (if you're a dub).

Very true Lady Lee, with the tools that the WTS has prepared, any JW can seem so knowledgeable when they come to your door, as long as they stay on the topic for which they are prepared......

That makes sense, Lady Lee. They are trained to overcome simple objections at the door to keep a conversation started. They are not prepared to debate with someone who has done their homework.

The great thing is with so many connected to the internet, when they try to start a bible study the person is likely to search "Jehovah's Witnesses". They will get a wealth of information with hardly any of it being positive. Of course in very poor and rural areas of the US internet access is a bit spotty.

Right with you on this one LadyLee.

The study books, such as the Bible Teach do not even mention the faithful and discreet slave, 1914 or 1919 or that Jesus selected them. It's a deliberate ploy to suck the student in until they are already committed and then they are told in the Worship the only true god book about the "requirements"

I mentioned the 1919 selection by Jesus to my wife and she looked at me like I had a whole in my head.....so the husband of the study sister is supposed to be showing me this, using only the bible.......wow!

That hole she sees in your head must get pretty big when you know more about what they believe than they do.

Has anyonehere known about a minister, priest or other clergy leaving their church to become a JW?

I've never heard of one! Clergy actually have a real education on theology. They are professionals in the true sense of the world.

I remember JWs thinking they were so good when they would stop the priest in the church on the corner and try to preach to him. They always came back with this weird notion that they had won a debate.

Lady Lee has historical precedence. In the 1960s, there was much talk about "old light" and "new light" and how dangerous it was to even have the "old light" around in printed form - let alone actually compare it with the "new light". I observed an old lady try to give the congregation a complete watchtower collection going back to practically the beginning of publication - it was refused because the CO thought this was dangerous exposure to "old light"... REALLY. It would probably be worth quite a few dollars if it still exists to specialized collectors today.

Use of such outdated material would likely lead to the often mentioned horror of "studying yourself right out of the truth".

Also ironically, we were later told not to refer to the terms "old light" and "new light" anymore as that in itself was confusing to new ones.

When I was a the Elders School, Schroeder gave an example of a School attendee who went nuts while he was there at the school (Brooklyn), and I believe later committed suicide. It was blamed on "reading the old outdated literature" in the Society Library. Schroeder also stated that "now the society carefully monitors who can have access to this material, you must be a writing department honcho with legitimate cause" - I guess to avoid getting demonized or such.

I recently heard from a contact in Bethel that there will be additional warnings about the internet in the upcoming months.

It seems that there is growing evidence that the internet has pagan roots.

Most priests I met just couldn't be bothered wasting their time with us. At first I thought it was because they were afraid of debating with JWs. Eventually I learned otherwise. As a JW I could never hold my own against someone who really knew the bible.
