WT Studies are Not About Spirituality

The study articles are indeed superficial, and endeavour to turn every scriptural point into a 'teaching point for the Ministry, or Christian living' In other words, telling the audience how to live their lives.

If the articles have slipped in value, try attending the meeting ! Every conductor I have heard in recent years seems to have been trained to stifle any reasoned comment, to insist on short ("max 30 secs") answers from the paragraph. They much prefer a cute kid parroting what he is told, to an older sister who says something interesting.

    voideater,

:The WTS long ago decided that "character" (a way of expressing spirituality) was irrelevent.

Yes. That was in the 1930's, almost eighty years ago. Russell was big on "building character" as are most Christians today. Rutherford specifically stated that "character building" was not necessary and in fact, was a waste of time. He was interested in building a "sales force." It is still that way today.

It's all about following the rules so god doesn't kill you at the big A at any minute now.

If you don't do as they say you are deserving of death. Also, they don't care because you have a bad heart for not listening to the G.B.

every rule is put upon you on the basis that "princliple so and so was described in scripture x:x"

jesus got rid of so many laws and bullshit, and they still read all these "principles" from the pharasee testament

wt studies = fear tactics to keep the rank and file so scared that they find it hard to leave or think for themselves

because they would be running ahead of the slave and willl be killed for sure. Oh,yah at the big A at any minute. So they say- over and over again

    and again.

Obviously the WTS believes that spirituality is a good thing but must be used only in moderation.

On the other hand, in dubland there is no such thing as moderation in field service, meetings or conformity. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that.

And metrics drive behaviour. I think if you have true Spirituality, you don't need the WTS.
