I know a ton of republican dubs. They believe Fox News and Rush Limbaugh without question, and adhere to their beliefs despite evidence they later receive which disproves them.
They're quite haughty about their 'knowledge' too, and never bother to look anything up.
I was on the left of the political spectrum as a JW. My political stance was also partially due to the over abundance of leftist teachers I had at the high school I graduated from. It was in the years between leaving the JWs and prior to becoming becoming a follower of Christ that I began to move to the right of the political spectrum.
holy cow that was brazen olin!.......and i must be a freakkin oddity.....i was always a npr addict...esp in the early morn news segment.......but also a rush limbaugh nut!!......and i was a wicked conservative until the healthcare idea of mccain was just idiotic.....i hope obama succeeds there btw, but am gettin scared..........oompa

JWs tend to have no problem with government intervention on any issue that
lines up with their interpretati of the bible, and this is no surprise because
the whole idea of paradise is very socialist-utopia, with God as the fascis.
But of course of moral issues, they are extremely conservative, even if
mostly non-interventionist. I remember talking about abortion, and someone
saying to the effect of "we don't want to call ourselves "pro-life" because
that would be a violation of neutrality, and we are not ADVOCATES of the
pro-life position, and would never do something like kill an abortion doctor
or even picket a clinic, even though the bible is very clear on the issue"

It appears the logical evolution of a JW, or XJW in America, is to move to Republican. They prefer to have someone tell them how to think. Very simple straight forward hive mind type issues. Ruled by fear. Closed minded and short sighted. It must be comfortable to feel part of a group again, and the smug superior attitude transfers perfectly.

Pretty broad brush, there. I know of some close-mindedness on the other side (maybe even a "smug superior attitude") and,...perhaps the above quote reveals it nicely.
And I don't think the "logical evolution sequence" is necessarily correct, either. I see that at least on this board, conservatives are in the minority. Usually the same 2 or 3 conservative posters are here on an issue, and about twice that many liberals. The health care threads could be reviewed as a recent test.
Many (especially new escapees) are still consumed by quasi-witness purely religious issues, plus personal issues of keeping their family together after the shunning, and could care less about the dreaded "worldly politics".
