If he says he will get back to you next week about that, and wants to discuss another subject with you now, it's time to go fishing/whatever and you're in a hurry.

If he tries that, I will ask him about blood fractions, where they come from and if he has the freewill to donate to the blood bank since his brothers and sisters in the JWs are using products from it....once I get him to admit that fractions do come from stored blood.....which may be a stretch.....

And if your talking to catholics, how about that they approved of burning heretics at the stake a few centuries ago! would that be fair?

It's a fallacy to judge a faith on it's origins rather than what it is now!

I also think looking at prophecy interpretation is also a misdirection, while people where in expectation of Jesus as a messiah around when he came it was only afterwards we get the understanding of how clearly he fulfilled certain biblical prophecies ( prophecy fulfilment is only 100% after the fact)and even then they needed to be explained as with messiah coming from egypt a particular that one wasn't even seen as a prophecy till afterwards.

Intepretation of bible prophecy will be fluid and subject to change, It's impossible to judge any faith on it.

Most christian religions I know take the easy road of just avoiding bible prophecy altogether and not preparing people for armageddon but that would be even worse a failing IMO.

    2 Timothy 4:2-3
Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

We were given bible prophecy to prepare us we shouldn't bury it as the man who got the shekel did. If we have gotten it wrong, prayer to God and time will refine it.

    Revelation 12:14
The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent's reach.

    Reniaa -

I appreciate many of your comments here.....yes, most if not all religions have had issues with the past.....but the issue here is in 1914 Jesus began ruling (invisibly) and in the period up til 1919 he inspected all the religions of the world and found the religion led by a Mr. Judge Rutherford to be the one and only.......

We need to give Jesus/Michael more credit than that.....if the JWs of today were to hold true to the things Jesus saw at the time of the inspection, would they still be JWs.........yes, in the eyes of the JWs Jesus is merely a man, but since he is ruling from on high and should have the assistance of the spirit (Jehovah's force), shouldn't that spirit be much more efficient........and then since Jesus began his invisible rulership, shouldn't the 'brightening light' continue to gain focus, not flip flop on issues such as generation (same now as it was in 1927), Sodom and Gommorah, transplants, etc.

Reniaa/Dad only debates subjects of his/her choice, and will not discuss the issues you raise in your thread other than to derail the topic.

S/he demonstrates every diversion technique employed by the cult.

    Learn from him/her.

Not if the Watchtower claims that the basis for its own authority rests upon what is doing at that time. It would not be relevant as you claim if the Watchtower did not put weight onto the events and practices of their group during the 1918/19 peroid. Instead, they claim that divine powers selected their group invisibly during those years because they were the most clean religion (and were also prophisied to come). The strained argument of the 3 1/2 years from 1918/19 to Jesus makes it quite apparent the desperate attempt to link their own history with something divine.

The most current publication of the time of thier being "chosen" was the Finished Mystery. On the front cover of that book is the symbol of the Sun God, Ra. Would Jesus, inspecting the religions of that day, choose an organization with the symbol of another God on the cover of thier main teaching tool? Seriously?
