I live an hour away from the canadian border and we hardly ever get a winter like that. You all need to move to BC. It's lovely over here:)

Simon, I'm glad you made it here-in every way-literally and metaphorically.

Thanks, Simon. I look forward to listening to your JC tapes, whenever you find time to hunt them down. I know you're very busy right now, but I'm sure they'll be worth the wait. My best to you and yours.

Thank you for posting your story, Simon. so similar to that of myself and others. Glad you've come to Canada, too, and now a neighbour. You have really provided a service to ex-JWs that is invaluable. I've often thought on my journey out that I'd like to do something to help my fellow ex-Jws from a psychological healing viewpoint, and I hope to do so soon. Truly, you cannot understand unless you've been there. You've provided an incredible role model for us to follow your example and help JWs escape the cult. I'm glad you haven't abandoned JWD - you will always be the heart and soul.

And BTW...I wish I would have had the foresight to bring a tape recorder to my judicial meeting. well done.

Simon, my husband and I quit last spring (2008), just from our own sensibilities. At that time I started a journal of "a thousand reasons why I quit". We discovered this site a few months later and it justified all of our reasons and I found out other people felt just like we did. So basically the site didn't get me out but I credit it for maintaining my sanity during the transition. I can't thank you enough for keeping the site open through your big transition to Canada. Thank your family, you have meant the world to mine. Enjoy your wonderfully boring life! NMKA

    Thanks for posting that, Simon.

    I agree with AllTimeJeff:

On a personal note, I don't believe in coincidences.

Like someone else said, this site didn't get me out BUT it was a big part of getting over the whole JW mess. Before I found the people on here, I felt so incedibly alone. Finding this place, seeing how many others had the exact same feelings I had.......it was a lifesaver.

Not only talking to ex-Witnesses, but also talking to ex-Witness women who survived abuse helped me get over that part of my live as well. Purps, JamieBowers, Lady Lee were so helpful. The women on this site are awesome and strong.

I live in a rural area in the Southeast. There were no ex-Witnesses to talk to. Yes, there had been some who had left, but I couldn't find any of them. This place allowed me to "meet" other people who shared my pain and disillusionment.

    Thanks, Simon.

Thanks, Simon for your story and the work you do to keep up this website. Moving across the pond was quite a big change to make. I take it that you like snow, eh?
