  I get sick to death of people denigrating Mother Teresa, saying that she was selfish and petty-minded.

  I am especially fed up with those who say that her saintliness was purely an illusion created by her possessing minimal consciousness, like that of a small child or dog, and as such was further away from God than the average criminal.

  I find this sort of talk utterly repulsive. It is simply not right to say such horrible things about someone who was so sweet and gentle and who dedicated her whole life to helping others.

  Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I always thought it was sadly strange why ones would be critical of someone who tried to help others.

  Just because someone may believe differently from ones own ideas should not automatically make them bad.

  Gubberning Body: Those in the spotlight will always be attacked. It really doesn't matter what people say about her, her God will judge her heart without the 'help' of any human. And if there is no God? Well then, she is blissfully unaware and the good she did will be remembered by those who benefitted from it.

  I have always wondered why anyone's 'intentions' really matter. Honestly, if a child gets fed, clothed, or medical care by the actions of someone else, does the food, clothes or medicine not 'work' unless the giver is honest hearted?

  I, for one, believed her to be sincere. She may have been abrupt, unkind at times, or simply not what others expected her to be, but she spent her life helping others and that has some value regardless of her personality.

  I didn't know that anyone had anything negative to say about Mother Theresa! She worked among the poorest of the poor, and loved them.

  There are some people that are never satisfied unless they run someone down.

  I always admired Mother for her gentle spirit.

  A friend of mine predicted long before she died that people would backstab her in any way they could when she dies.

  People are just jealous of the good work she had done and they got nuttin' to show for.

  I was unaware that she was being denigrated as you describe. Most people associate her with self sacrifice and truly good works. I have always thought highly of her.

  Compare her to Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Madonna, Leona Helmsly, etc etc.
