When my father says a prayer at a meal, he never mentions any of the family members who are not in attendance. It just strikes me as very odd. No mention of his sons or grandchildren or his brother or SIL or any of their families (some of which are also JWs). He definitely remembers to say "Give us strength to keep the Kingdom Ministry first in our lives and doing your will" though. I always say to myself "Whatever!" when he comes to that part.

I'm glad his prayers aren't too long. It's hard to go to and stay in my happy place during that timeframe when I feel like yelling "'It's all wank!"

Their prayers are probably one of the best examples that they are a cult and self righteous like the Pharisees. It always bothered me that they told me I could not pray for my dfd child. I did anyway, but they always made you feel guilty.

Someone mentioned The Village. I loved that movie. It showed mind control through lies and fear and how the ones engaging in it felt they were doing the right thing.

Very perceptive movie. Unfortunately, the members of my family who are still dubs didn't get the correlation.

How low will the Watchtower go? I see you've made three posts here.

You make yourself superior in your feeble mind simply because we called bullshit.

Now tell me, is it easier to call bullshit or go with the flow? Most of us lost our whole belief system when we left.

If you wanna talk about a tiny little mind, go to the Kingdom Hall, that's where they congregate.

When my father prays, he still mentions my brother, who has been inactive many years. He says 'please bring him back'. He's learnt to accept that my brother isn't in the truth (even though he doesn't celebrate birthdays or holidays) but still holds out hope. There was a time there when my brother would visit and as he was leaving dad would always yell out 'think theocratic'. It used to make me feel awful. Eventually my brother told my dad nicely to stop saying it. So he would occasionally say 'T T' as brother left. My brother again asked him please, don't say anything like that. My dad took that as my brothers conscience working, and felt good about it. He did respect my brother though and dropped it altogether.
