Ya I'm Scandivian and we're a pretty hands off society. I got into the huggy thing a few years ago when we went to AU 'cause they do that handshake hug smooch in the cheeck thing . Now that we moved to FL everyone down here hugs. My boss is an older woman and everyday she comes in she does teh kiss on both cheecks as does the whole office. It's a real culture shock, but I think it's great and brings people together (too bad there are no single guys at work)!

Come to think of it...the way that the Dutch people greet each other is to kiss on the cheeks three times for any acquaintances and for close family members (and lovers LOL) three kisses on the cheek and the fourth kiss smack on the lips...

I remember reading up on the subject of cultural emotionalism and touching. You might think the American's are bad Englishman...but Gawd help you if you ever go over to Central or South America where men routinely touch each other about 40 times per hour (not sexually based) and it is much more common to express your emotions.
In some cultures, people love to get right in your face and smell your breath to find out what you had for dinner!
Now wouldn't that be a interesting cultural shock for you rather reserved folks...hehe

Actually I may have given you good people the wrong impression here. I was referring to how we express emotion on the web.
