Who here has a love-hate relationship with Moulin Rouge? I despise some of it, and adore other parts of it. Original, for sure.
Any of you guys like it?

ashitaka,
My husband and I rented it this weekend and couldn't make it through the whole movie. Now, it could have been because we were both extremely tired. But I just thought it was too goofy. It wasn't what I was expecting, maybe that's what the problem was.
Just my 2 cents.

Hey duped, about your signiture. My mom puts it this way "Somedays you are the statue...and somedays you are the bird." :)
I've never seen the movie, no good eh? Or just different?
Moulin Rouge in my nutshell - One of the best movies of all time .. a feast for the eyes and ears .. best thing yet to come out of the big haunted mansion in eastern Sydney.
Maybe it's because i'm a kinky australian i relate to it so well. lol.

Hi Ash, We saw the movie and it was awsome in different ways. First it was a visual smorgasborg. And everything visually depicted everything fun in my memory. You could see aspects of childhood memories of cartoon characters, and toys, visits to Disney, the Wizard of Oz, Barbie Doll etc. It first was very loud and slow moving but as the story line continued we were able to empathize with the characters. Nicole Kiddman was fabulous and suprisingly a wonderful singer. It is a movie I am told that you either love or hate. I loved it for many reasons and especially I like Nicole. The colors and visual props were delightful.By the way, Merry Christmas!
unc,
you're just a romantic at heart!
Cheers,
Ozzie

Hey, it's got Nicole Kidman in and was very moving - it made me cry (ok, maybe that was just 'cause she didn't get her kit of...)
Seriously, a sad story of love conquering all - I'm a real sucker for schmultzy stuff like that.
Watched it this past weekend. Loved it - though it certainly wasn't what I expected. The visuals were incredible, and loved the use of such familiar songs.
A very, very different film. "To love, and be loved in return."
Yes, makes sense to me.
