Sammie, I did not have my children vaccinated. Well, technically they had 2 doses of what would have been 5?. I waited until they were older, because I had heard that it was safer (there was a 20/20 episode about the horrors of vaccines that I watched while I was pregnant with my first). My Son had a reaction both times, the second time much worse. No way was I going to take a chance on a third reaction. When they went to school, I had to sign a waver acknowledging that if there was an outbreak of any kind in our area, my children would be pulled out of school immediately. Never happened. That was 20 years ago, I think it was just DPT, MMR, and Polio at that time.

Statistically speaking, it would be safer to take the 1976 vaccine than it would be to drive on two-lane highways in an automobile. Right?

My god LWT!!!! You don't drive on those things do you????

I took the 76 swine flu shot at Bethel, i thought I was gonna die, wanted to die...laid in bed for two days till they preassured me to go back to work...I felt terrible for weeks. I have talked to other people my age who took that shot and had similar experiece. No thanks, I will work on my building my immune system instead.

I wouldn't want anybody's kids taking it either...you can if you wish get a release from their school for taking it for religious reasons. You write a note explaining it's against your religious beliefs get it notorized and take it to their school.

I have heard the schools get extra money if there over ninty eight per cent of their students are vaccinated. Hmmmm.

No thanks to that. The vaccination does not have proper labeling of the sort that even bottled water has on it. There is simply no way to discern what ingrediants are in the vaccine, and therefore no way to investigate the potential risks. I have not seen the results from any clinical trials of the vaccine, or any long term studies of its effects. Since there is so little reliable data about the vaccine I have no way to know the cost/benefit ratio and see no valid reason to have it injected into me.

however....for the swine flu itself..........was it safer to take the vaccine or not in 1976?

    Point taken.

I would imagine that my lack of suspicion at the medical community is related to the great success I've had with it.

I will vaccinate myself and my family as soon as it becomes available. Not only to protect myself, but to avoid spreading it to others. If enough people vaccinate, it is a firewall that halts the spread.

Everyone without insurance go to the back of the line!

My wife's former employer offers vaccines for $20 at the beginning of the season. No appointment necessary. They do this every year. Walk in, get a shot, walk out. They put a big sign out front when the new year's batch comes in.

Leave the conspiracy theories behind folks. These vaccines are safe and necessary. They are inexpensive. They are effective. I encourage everyone to voluntarily do so, the life you save could be your own. And if you get sick, you could pass it on to someone and it could kill them. Think about this. It is like giving blood, save a life.
