Is the internet hurting new JW recruits?

Absolutely , there is for more negative information on the Net than there is certainly positive, the inter-net is the biggest stumbling blockade going

in the history of the WTS. and the JWS. Since most modern industrialized countries have the inter-net in their homes now, self investigation

    is probable and most likely.

If someone came to your door with a religious message and you were attracted to it, would you immediately google the religion and find out its pros and cons?

Yes, I would. If I wonder about something, I Google it, even if I am only mildly interested. For example, the other day I watched one of the Granada shows "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes," and I wondere what else Jeremy Brett starred in. Then I looked up his movies on imdb.com, then saw this quote he said about Maggie Smith. Then I looked up her info and checked out some of the older movies she had been in.

I was only mildly interested in Jeremy Brett's old movies, and I spent a good 20 minutes checking it out on the Internet. I do the same for anything remotely more important. I would certainly do so before joining a religion.

Of course, not everyone is internet-savvy... but those people are rapidly dwindling.

I wouldn't be attracted to it. If i were to feel attracted to it, i'd go to the doctor & ask for an MRI scan of my brain.

I google everything I am interested in: movies, deals, consumer goods, health advice, etc.
I especially google things that sound too good to be true: diets, toxicity removal, financial advice.

Of course I would google any religion that peaked my interests, same as anything else.

Unfortunately many naive or weak minded lonely people may not check the internet. Some elderly people may not even have a computer. In spite of that I do think the balance turns out in our favor.

The wacktower website is not really set up to answer any questions- inquiring minds are not sought out for JW membership!
