If a no trespassing sign was faded and not new looking, the people I was often in the car with would say the homeowner needs to replace that sign and probably doesn't care anymore if someone comes to their house!!! luckily the homeowner was often not home when that happened.

I was told by the CO back in the late 1970's that we should not offer anything for sale at these doors.
That way if the police were called, we could not be lumped in with "solicitors"

The irony is that in my area, the local KH has a "Private Property - No Trespassing" sign posted at the entrance of the parking lot.

"no solicitors" - when I was actually active in house to house some 12 years ago I was always told that we didn't solicid anything so there was no problem bothering these people. Basically one need a sign with being very specific for witnesses not to call otherwise they will twist anything into anything they want. Maybe a sign "Watch Tower members and all other solicitors are not welcome" Hey, maybe selling these signs at door to door would be profitable? Last solitation the householder gets for a small fee? hmmmm

We were told that it doesn't apply to the witlesses. We are supposed to go to "No Soliciting" doors, since the Washtowel definition of "soliciting" did not include preaching the Washtowel littera-trash or message. If you skipped that door, you "murdered" whoever was in that house by not warning them of Jehovah's judgment. You are supposed to be brave about the situation and face the consequences, be it a dog, a gun, a can of pepper spray, or getting the cops called on you.
Of course, "No Soliciting" signs in my area rarely meant anything. Householders didn't want insurance salesmen or other door to door salesmen calling them, but didn't seem to mind too much religious solicitation.

My sign (when it's in use) is pretty specific: It says NO SOLICITING, NO PEDDLING, NO PREACHING.... NO KIDDING!!!

Signs never worked for me..
I would watch JW`s read the sign..Discuss whether they should knock on the door..
Then Knock on the door.....I would point out the sign..
They would say they never saw it..After I watched them read and discuss it..
They had no problem lying to my face..Ever!!..
